Who cares? Really? I try to see the best in everyone but Josh and Anna look like they are pushing 40. Does Mackenzie squirm? Does the baby cry? Is there something life changing that is going to happen here?
TLC should be ashamed of wasting air time with this trivial bologna.I have an idea,,,lets bring in cousin Amy and have her act like a 2 year old to fill space. These producers will never work again with this show on their resume. Scary, huh Sean?

Ohhhh my, what a snoozer this will be! Again, there is nothing "reality" show worthy about the day-to-day routine of a regular (boring) couple with two regular children. And, watching Josh "work" or "babysit" will only aggravate me. I'll skip it.

Yawn. They've got nothing left to film, and they know it.

All I can say is WOW!
Many of you have said you suspected someone watches this board and then bam, they are going to update us on the car lot? How many times did we say "who's watching the car lot Josh"? When they were on the campaign trail? Incredible. Someone in production or PR reads this blog.

I wish they would just scrap their original plans for this season, do a one hour special about the pregnancy, miscarriage, and memorial service, then make a new season. Yes, I'm sure Josh & Anna will check in but there will also probably be a bit of footage of how Michelle is progressing along. It's going to be hard to watch that footage, knowing the inevitable end.

It occurs to me that the "our car lot is doing bad (sic) and we're fixin' to go broke" schtick is aimed at suckers in the area to feel bad and trot on down to Josh's car lot and buy a car to help out this struggling but proud young Christian family to stay afloat (who meanwhile has stayed at the Ritz Carlton hotel).

As I've said before, I LOVE Josh and Anna episodes. Looking forward.

I just saw a fan pic taken yesterday when Josh made some kind of speech and Anna was wearing a polo shirt that REALLY emphasized her belly. Until now, I thought she might just be gaining weight all over, but now I think she may have just found out she's pregnant when they were filming around the ole homestead late last fall.

I see no other reason for her to be shown trying to wrangle a ton of little ones at a park (foreshadow of having 3 kids under age 3 come June or thereabouts), or mention in previews that his lot is struggling (buy a car NOW! We need the cash....badly - or "bad" in Duggar-speak).

They're already in just about every episode as it is. What ELSE is there to check in about?

They'll be making an announcement retrospectively next week on their own little episode so they don't show up Michelle (and make prophetic what Anna said about having to "catch up" when JimBob made the "surprise" announcement about J20.

Krissy said...

Good points about the car lot. From what I've seen on the show the reason his lot is failing probably has to do with the fact that all his cars are clunkers that are insanely overpriced. I know there is normal markup on vehicles, but Josh is ridiculous. With the failing economy, car dealerships are offering great deals and low financing on brand new cars, so why overpay for something already used?

I hope Anna isn't pregnant again. Her and Josh have already aged twenty years since they got married. Why add another kid if they're already struggling?

heavennoseven said...

I wonder if the older girls will sound off on how they feeling about this. Since, they don`t cut their hair other then bangs.

I think the car lots will be about the move and how he wants to with his family. So, he can be with his family.

If Josh's car lot is doing poorly, is it any surprise. He has been away following Santorum around the country, leaving his car lot in the hands of employees I presume. Most people who own their own small business (or manage a car lot, like Josh does, since JimBob is the real owner), put hard work and all their energy into making it a success. But Josh seems to have a lazy work ethic, and would rather travel around in their bus, eating out all the time, than try to build his business.

If he is supposed to be an example of how great home schooling is, or how the Duggars are raising their children to succeed in life, I am not very impressed.

(I don't really blame Josh for gadding about. His overindulgence in food, his general aimlessness in life, are probably due to how he was raised. Parents who control every aspect of their children's lives are not properly preparing them for adulthood. Once those kids actually are finally allowed out on their own, they have no practice in making good decisions.)

Since TLC was also shooting at both Duggar homes on Valentine's Day, I really expect some of that to be spliced in to the episode. Watch out for Anna's hair, specially large-barrel curling iron waves for the special day, as opposed to her regular, fine hair. That will be the editing "tell."

As will be the difference in weight dispersion between post-baby weight shot in late Oct/early Nov. and Valentine's Day pregnancy.

There will be splicing. TLC already tipped that hand.

Josh said Anna was NOT pregnant during the Q and A, but we do not know when that part was filmmed. I hope she isn`t. I feel so bad for that poor girl. I think she doesn`t want to do home births with no meds. However, I doubt she has much of a say. I think as long as TLC is around it will be home births. Unless, they needed to go the hospital for medical issues.

===================================

They made that "announcement" after they got back from the overseas trip, soemtime in October. That makes sense since we know they went to the space center then and the episode we saw last week was taped at the end of October (Michelle's ultrasound was dated 10.26). So it's quite conceivable (sorry, couldn't resist) that Anna was pregnant but they didn't know yet, or they suspected, maybe even knew, but couldn't say much more than "We have to catch up, fast!"

I just saw a different commercial of Anna for tonight. She is putting all the car seats in to babysit Michelles youngest kids alone. I always hated dealing with car seats and I officially gave that job to my husband. Why in the world would Anna need to babysit Michelles kids? What scenario did they make up for this tv plot? All the sudden Josh has to work at the car lot? Where is Jimbob, Michelle, John David, Jana, Jill, Jessa, Joseph, Jinger, Josiah, JoyAnna? Anna should be 12th on the babysitting list after the above and Josh IMO.

ennvee said...

She's basically preparing herself for her life in about 3 years, at the rate she's breeding of late.

heavennoseven said...

at 18 weeks didn`t she already know she lost the baby?

Stephanie said...

Well I was totally off. Anna just picked up the 3 little girls and took them to the park with her two kids for fun? While Michelle exercised.
My guess is Josh and Anna needed a paid appearance episode where they are the focus.

Johanna is wild.
She was climbing on the playground equipment not the way it was designed for. Anna was right to call her out on it. Believe it or not there are rules to outdoor play equipment for teachers and plain ole common sense for mothers and Anna has the common sense. I wonder if Michelle would have called her down for her dangerous behavior?

Elverna Bradshaw said...

Well, well...little Mack will be joining the Duggar family orchestra in a year or two (no need to know how to actually play, as outted by Jackson). Always planning ahead on maximum fleecing of the public.

Josh in the hat? Reminded me of Dom DeLuise in all ways (balding, fat and pasty).

ennvee said...

Michelle's appointment (taped by TLC because it was supposed to be the big gender reveal) was at 19 weeks. So no, she didn't know yet.

But Anna already looked bigger than her (in what is HER signature shirt) back in December. At least from the side. She looked even bigger in the plaid.

Other than that, I went to make dinner and laughed hysterically at a person who supposedly has a "degree" in early childhood education not being able to handle 4 kids playing on monkey bars and complaining of broken arms. FAIL, Anna. Try 20 5-6 year olds and about one broken arm a year in that age group. That part is as old as time.

Laughed also at Josh saying WE own the lot. Public records reveal that his father owns the property. I think it's the disingenuous nature of these people that fools people and is, therefore, their worst trait.

ennvee said...

Forgot to mention, my husband now yells, "NOOOOOOO!!!!!" whenever any Duggar pulls out a musical instrument. Josh needs to put down the fork and pull up the bow if Mack is going to get any decent lessons from his parents (I recall Anna confessing to not being very musical, although all Gothard kids seem to be forced into it, talented or not).

ennvee said...

Sorry for the multiple posts, but yes, I know Mack is a girl. It was the haircut that threw me. The words "haircut" and "female" don't typically compute when thinking about the Duggars with XX-chromosomes. :D

I betcha that's where the girls go for perms. I think the home-perm bit was a one-off for TLC viewers.

I couldn't believe the amount of crap in the crib with Michael. Don't Josh and Anna know that the less stuff in the crib, the less chance of SIDS? The blanket and the pillow should not have been in the crib. I can't remember if there bumpers in there too, Because those aren't supposed to be in a crib either. At least he was on his back!

I feel sorry for Josh if thinks his car lot will be able to support his growing family. Jim Bob will need to come up with a new career plan for Josh. His admittance that the car lot wasn't doing so good is no surprise. You have to stay in one spot in order to establish a business.
Anna taking the girls to the park was nice but she really needs to realize she will have her work cut out for her if she inspires to have children piled together. Michelle's comments about Anna and Josh needing a van eventually makes me feel that the baby making pressure is on.
And I'm not sure when this episode was filmed but Anna looks pregnant here too.Maybe its the maternity shirt she seems to love.
I was also surprised to see Mackynzie getting a haircut.I thought girls having their haircut was a no-no.

Willow said...

Oh, I definitely think this episode was for Anna to get used to extra kids because she knew she was pregnant and it would make a useful episode for her. It starts softening the blow for the actual announcement that she is pregnant. I agree about Johanna but then she has always been like that. And, as far as babysitters, the twins, and maybe even Jason, should be able to watch at least one younger sibling for a short period of time. I bet they already do sometimes.

Actually, Anna's name is at least on the original car lot along with Josh's, I remember seeing that filing as a public record post shortly after they got married (maybe changed since then, granted). I seem to remember the Duggar married women have their names on just about everything the husbands do. Yes, Jim Bob may have purchased the newest lot, but then again, the 'we' statment both of them use might encompass a 'we' that is the Duggar family, including all generations. Remember Jim Bob saying something about the extra acres around the house as potential plots for the kids later in life?

Making fun of Anna's reaction to having little ones running amok on a playground in light of her 'education degree' is not in any way a fair assessment. Those of us with education degrees can tell you there typically isn't a class on playground supervision theory 101: how to wrangle a full class on playground equipment without suffering lots of broken limbs. I think supervising Hannie would be challenging for ANYONE - that girl is a mess.

I did have to laugh after watching the episodes last night, though. Yes, Sean watches the boards and clearly structures the shows accordingly. Yes, Anna may be pregnant and YES, we know about how things turn out with Michelle. Yet TLC wins again because everyone jumps on boards to complain and speculate, then watches the show they claim to loathe to confirm what they believe they KNOW, then jump back on the boards to talk about more (including me). HA!!!!

My only complaint is how they are handling the miscarriage. Prior to that I had no complaints with the show. To me "Duggars Without Pity" has a dual meaning. The first one is you don't pity them, you respect their way of life even if you don't completely embrace it 100%. The second one is you discuss them without pity, which means you basically rake them over the coals. GRIN, either way you interpret "without pity", it definitely makes for some interesting e-conversations and I applaud the moderators for running this blog in such a way both types are drawn to it.

Michelle is a lazy ***! How dare she spend an hour on the eliptical while her DIL has to struggle with installing all the carseats for her own children and three nieces? Where is Michelle? Couldn't she get off the eliptical for a few minutes and help? She acted completely uninvolved and those are HER children.

She is the absolute WORST mother!

=================================

I had to do a LOT of field work just for an Ed MINOR and I did a TON of kid wrangling in addition to the classroom theory. Same goes for grad school; just depends on the age group. If you're teaching little ones, you're going to have to supervise recess and for the little ones, special play time.

Anna's "degree" is from an online mill, so other than her younger brothers or supervised babysitting with a sister in tow (as we saw with Jill and Joy..one of those kids was almost Joy's age), who knows how much experience she has with kids at parks given the fact she has 3 older sisters who had to wrangle HER for a while?

Kasey said...

I didn't really mind this episode too much. Some things really annoyed like when Michelle couldn't bother getting off her eliptical to help Anna get the car seats, for her own children, buckled into the van.

I wonder how a mother who has so many young children find time to workout for an hour a day?

I sometimes think watching episodes like this one is a breath of fresh air. There isn't the chaos in Anna's home like in Michelle's.

I think Anna is a good mother. Mackynzie seems quite smart for a child her age, you can tell Anna spends time with her. What is sad is knowing that if she continues to have as many children as they can is she won't be able to spend that one on one time with the future children like she can with Mackynzie and Michael. Mackynzie and Michael will get lost in the shuffle and she will be too busy to do that kind of teaching with any other young ones when she has 5 or so children she needs to take care of because the others will still be too young to really help yet.

There is something to be said about having a small family. I think the differences are quite obvious when showing Anna who spends time with her kids and Michelle who spends time on the eliptical and speaking engagements.

I love Anna. She seems to love taking care of her home and family. She would be a great daughter in-law to have.
My snarls for this episode :
I can't believe that Josh went on about how he gave Anna permission to use disposible diapers.
As if she had the blessing of the king of the castle!
Mack didn't really need a haircut though it came out cute.
Who is doing Anna's eye makeup? It is way too much.
Anyway, I hope as Anna matures, she will see Josh for the jerk he is.

I just watched this one via DVR. I really do wonder what Josh and Anna are going to do when the TLC money well dries up. From the way he talked about how the business was going, it seemed like the lot's are pretty much sitting there not making enough at all. If I were Anna, I'd be freaking out about the day my gravy train cameras were going to leave. Just my opinion.

Not to be snarky but actually the girls are Anna's sister- in- laws, not her nieces and Mackynzie and Michael are their niece and nephew, not cousins. --------------------------
Her playground supervision wasn't bad, it's editing. About every 30 seconds, there is Anna chasing someone, plucking them off the monkey bars, etc., but that's because the whole thing is compressed. If there were, let's say, 6 danger moments in the timeframe of one hour, they're going to jam those six moments into 10 minutes, making the whole thing seem dangerous.

Krissy said...

You could tell Johannah wasn't used to being called out on her behavior. I don't think the younger Duggars are supervised all that well in their home.

I hope Anna continues with the trend of getting Mackenzie's hair trimmed regularly. That way it can grow out long without looking fried and scraggly like the older Duggar girls.

A lot of parents help their young adult children get started in business so in that sense I won't criticize JimBob. Josh doesn't have enough credit history or income history to get a bank to give him a mortgage so JimBob most likely had to purchase the property.

Mackenzie seems like a really bright kid, I hope Anna slows down with procreating so her potential isn't diminished.

Not just her eye makeup. She had way too much makeup up period on especially for daytime. (She had visible "racing stripes" on her cheeks. Blending is your friend, Anna.)

Sweeps start at the end of April. (My daughter is a news producer so I'm constantly reminded.)

====================================

We're on the waning side of Feb. Sweeps. That's why I'm thinking the announcement could be done on Anderson, since it was taped on Valentine's Day (awwww how cute!) and well past the Jubilee fiasco when the family probably knew but was keeping it quiet, not expecting the Jubilee stuff to happen. I really think TLC was planning another Michelle/Anna dueling pregnancy plotline before the miscarriage. Michelle had just "announced" at the end of last "season," but as we're seeing now, they're going into the vault and showing us a lot of older stuff (next week goes back to the SUMMER!) and an announcement on TODAY - too serious this time - or cutting their ties and going with Anderson Cooper for the announcement, is about the only road they can take now, especially since Josh is leaking pictures all over the place and Anna is looking...bigger. Much bigger on Valentine's Day than she appeared in that same shirt two months ago.

She herself said this would be "practice" for WHEN she had five kids and Michelle mentioned that they'd need one of those 15 seat vans. Even then, I think they were dropping subtle hints.

Mackenzie was really talking on camera last night and putting full sentences together. Little Jordyn who is older (I think) doesn't speak well at all. Just observes. Last week when Jordyn was looking at shoes in the closet with Jimbob she tried to talk but didn't really say much of anything. Granted 75% of the time Mac is with her mother so I expect her speech to be fairly good. I should have known better than to think Jordyn's speech would be on track.
Josie & Jordyn need speech therapy. 2&3 years I guarantee you they are delayed. If they get Josie a Speech Therapist the Duggars girls will start saying they want to be a speech therapist. Sorry girls, that takes a real 4 year degree.
I REALLY wanted Josie to plant a big kiss on the mouth to that little boy. One more think, out of all the Duggar babies we have seen born on tv Jordyn wasn't the prettiest. This last year, her little face is turning so pretty.

Anna's degree is not in early childhood education.

On Josh and Anna's website, they state she has a B.A. Degree in Christian Education

Looking up what is required for a B.A. in Christian Education at various colleges/universities it appears to be more seminary (religious studies) related. That would make a B.A. in Christian Education quite different then a B.A. in Early Childhood Education or a B.A. in Elementary Education.

==================================

During a radio interview, maybe last fall or thereabouts, Anna confirmed that the degree she earned was 1) from an online source (ie. Christian degree mill) and 2) aimed at early childhood education so she could "teach her kids at home." She specified the early part of childhood.

IOW, her degree is in no way comparable to a degree, even with the same title, conferred to a graduate of an accredited Christian college, such as Oral Roberts or even Bob Jones (I think they've just recently become accredited). Any education she has is on par with College Minus. IOW, any of us could plunk down less than $100 and take a 3-4 unit course in early childhood education at our local community college and learn what Anna did to get her "degree."

I don't see anything revolutionary in her mothering style or teaching methods that would mark her as someone who had spent the equivalent of four years' study (doubtful that she had breadth pre-reqs like any regular college requires to earn a degree. How on earth would an online place know you are doing field work? Even at the high-status place I attended (trust me, everyone has heard of the place), they had to be hooked up with local schools, which I'm sure would be much harder for an online diploma mill who is dealing with clientele who don't believe in putting kids in daycare in the first place.

Frankly, as far as I can tell, somewhere between ages 16-20, Anna got college credit for babysitting her younger brothers, who were actually older than the type of degree she said she earned.

I'm finally watching this episode. Josh is actually more human and like-able in this episode. This episode was definitely better then the last few shown. I'm also wondering why Anna was using the cloth diapers and felt guilty for using disposable. I thought they didn't beleive in environmentaly issues? Is it because she feels taht they are better for Michael?

How does Josh s workers make any money. If they only make money when they sell a car. If they go a week without selling a clunker. Is that a week or free work? They get commission.

I also read a real dealership(Subaru) is opening up by him. I feel bad for anyone who works with him.
