When Josh's old trainer Steve shows up at their front door unexpectedly, what will Steve learn about Josh's current eating and excercising habbits? Later, Jinger uses her photography skills to snap engagement photos of Jill and Derick.

Why in the world would Steve travel to dc to check on Josh's diet. They must be paying him really well. Jinger does awesome pictures hopefully she can go into photography professionally.

Does anybody really believe that he showed up by surprise?

Honestly. *rolls eyes* This show is getting ridiculous.

Well, we knew this was coming, since so many of us have called out the so-called "professions" of the Duggar adult girls as more akin to hobbies. And, nothing has been mentioned about Jinger's photography "career," so what a better way to silence the critics by showing her in action! And the Duggar fans will say it proves that Jinger DOES have a career, when it's just the same old, same old tinkering in something and, of course, getting services for free instead of paying a professional.

I wish the show was renamed "19 Kids and Subtracting". As easily predicted, TLC has created separate blogs for the three in relationships (Josh, Jill, Jessa) so they can continue in their own "mini-spin offs" within the show & make $$$ (via separate contracts). Follow the money -- so many "updates" via instagrams, articles with paid pics & other product endorsements. Jim Bob is one smart mentor to help set his adult kids up with TLC too while the iron is hot. (No matter what articles say they are NOT "stars" just known because of the show.) He better push finding mates or storylines for the remaining two adult "kids" at home (twins Jana & John) before the gravy train runs off the track. Do you really want the show to continue transitioning down to the next generation of Duggars? Do you really want to watch/follow them for another 5-10 yrs? What a world, what a world!

...."they are NOT stars".....

Sadly, they are stars. You don't get on the cover of People magazine without having the power behind you to sell magazines. And to me, that is the scary part. They have enough of a fan base to be that nationally well-known and supported. So, who are the crazies that support them? Maybe people ignore certain things they dislike about the show, such as the lack of real education, but like other things. I am stunned by their popularity.

Their public exposure is tightly controlled and I think most people don't understand how truly crazy their lifestyle is. I remember when Michelle was protesting outside and abortion clinc. Everyone has their own beliefs, but she was literally sobbing, I mean fully hysterical, as if someone in her family had died. it was all caught on camera and Jim Bob was trying to get her to calm down and stop talking. if I remember correctly, she said very offensive things about the women going into the clinic. It was national news and then she put out a press release distancing herself from what she said and how she acted. While I think abortion is a very sad thing, she was almost having a breakdown outside the clinic. Couple that with her having all those kids, and it makes for the picture of an unbalanced woman. Like her having all these kids is more about making a statement n larger issues than simply loving children and wanting a lot. It was beyond creepy. It might have been at a protest for abortion law and not at a specific clinic, but I d remember it was about abortion. Maybe the clip f her n camera is n the net somewhere.

I realize my comment may have come across as a condemnation of Jinger's photography skills, and that's that what I meant at all. She seems to have a natural talent, and it's great she gets to nurture that talent...but the nurturing only goes so far, which is the source of my frustration. Meaning, she might get a few gigs here and there, but it just seems like the whole "Jinger is taking the engagement pictures" is a way to address internet babble about the girls not being gainfully employed or allowed to follow their interests all the way to a full-time, paying career.

Free Jinger!

Josh and Anna are really bad actors. They knew Steve was coming & the big unhealthy breakfast was obviously TLC's idea....

I'm happy Jinger was their photographer. It gave her an opportunity to do what she loves. And I see it as a wonderful wedding gift to Jill & Derick.

Anonymous said...

Do you know what is sad? The fact that Jana has never even held a guy's hand. She is going on 25! I cannot believe how deprived that beautiful girl is of things. There is noway a woman with her beauty should have to be alone and so "virginized" when it comes to simple romantic things with the opposite sex. What we all experienced in junior high regarding innocent first crushes and romance, that poor girl has never known. She is sweet and kind too so I bet she would make a decent man a wonderful girlfriend! She looks so sad anymore. I really hope she gets her time to shine and experience what it is like to be loved. It is time for Jana to find romance and hopefully true love and happiness. She so deserves it!

Check out any of the Gothard family websites and you'll find one child (usually the third or fourth child, usually a daughter) who is called the family photographer. One child is good at organizing, one is good at music, one is good at cooking, one is a photographer, etc.

Anonymous said...

I really don't like the story line of Josh not eating right. None of the Duggars eat right. Hire a chef to teach all of the children how to cook fresh foods.

Anonymous said...

Jinger is playing with photography but not studying it. She will always be limited by what she has self-taught herself. Just like their off-key violin playing. So sad.....

Anonymous said...

Re:Taurus0385 comments about Jinger. I agree that Jinger does a good job & she loves that work. Just think what she could do with a little professional training. Believe me, I don't think you'll ever see her do more than take photos of family weddings or friends wedding, perhaps picture of the new babies in the family. It's a shame that girl has really had a passion for that work for a long time & although her mother may talk about it, they do nothing to encourage any training or work outside the family. In that family women married or single are not supposed to have jobs outside the house.

Steve said he thought Josh had gained 25lbs since his move to Dc but I would say he looks like he's gained even more, although I know the camera puts on a few pounds.

Anonymous said...

Michelle's eyes have deffinetly gotten crazier this season.

CannedSoup said...

I finally had to turn it off. I understand that M likes babies, but she cannot stop talking about babies or future babies or "grand-duggars" (not even saying "grand-dillard/duggars" or "grand-seewald/duggars"), as if that is all she truly dwells on. Michelle, we all have to move on in life---move forward, that is.

I have a married daughter and there are no children yet---but I do not pressure her in ANY way---unlike JBob and M and their CONSTANT pressure for grandchildren. That is so very, very wrong.

Yes, Steve's visit was SO planned---c'mon! And I cannot believe Anna cooks that many biscuits and that much meat for a Saturday breakfast---it was enough to feed the planet.

Where was Jana in this ep?

Anonymous said...

That is a pretty fancy nice camera for someone who likes to "take pictures as a hobby"!!!

Anonymous said...

Speaking of Jana...Where is she? Is she still in the family home or has she left to serve that church they worship? And I agree that she's looked very sad lately. Her 2 younger sisters are married/engaged and she's not even "courting" poor girl.

On Josh & Anna:
Who cares?! I'm so tired of TLC trying to make them interesting and this storyline was so baked and faked I could hardly watch it. Go away, Josh.

Judy said...

It is sad about Jana...but it's also sad about John David. Nearly 25 and whenever he's talking on camera it's like he's a teenager. And he's never had any relationships either.

I agree that none of the Duggars eat a healthy diet. Steve just needed to watch the episodes and draw the conclusion that Josh hasn't been following his diet plan, nor his exercise regimen. Fork to mouth doesn't qualify as exercise. The contents of their pantry was atrocious. Josh and Anna are young people, who are heading for big trouble health-wise. JMHO.

Anonymous said...

I noticed that Josh and Anna had a lot of Whole Foods generic "365" brand items in there pantry... doesn't really seem to fit the image that they preach as far as saving money is concerned... they could probably buy a generic brand elsewhere for much cheaper. I guess they are really raking in the $$$ now...

Do we think the older duggar girls are allowed to drive on over to Jill's house without a chaperone?

Anonymous said...

I was thinking about it & I don't wonder why the Duggars eat so much junk. They don't drink, smoke, or take drugs(except for a scrip for Prozac maybe.I think there has to be some pharmaceutical reason behind Michelle lol) The only thing they can enjoy IS food.

Anonymous said...

Haha yeah probably not!!!!

I was wondering the same...maybe she ran away!! Run sweetie, run! I love her, such a beautiful sweet person, doesn't have the holier than thou attitude.Come to MN, I'll hook you up with a job, and sweet bachelorette digs. And take you to normal functions to meet a normal , non-fundie man who won't keep you barefoot & pregnant. Because that is NOT all you can be!!

Did anyone else find it weird when anna kissed josh. It was like her lips went around his mouth. It is sad that all of JBs kids act like kids. I wonder if they are aloud to have friends of the opposit sex that aren't siblings.

Anonymous said...

Is anyone else tired of seeing Anna sucking Josh's face every time they are on camera together?! For a family that is obsessed with moral behavior and making sure their kids don't kiss or hold hands before marriage, they sure do set a poor example as parents!

I also honestly think that Jim Bob and Michelle's kids are getting fed up with their antics. There seems to be a lot more attitude coming out of them (Jana and Joy) than before.

no name said...

JB and Michelle have said they kiss to set an example of a loving marriage.

Anonymous said...

Anna puckers like a fish when she kisses Josh. I don't know how he stands it. Proof that kissing takes practice and dating is the best way to learn all about kissing before you settle down with your spouse.

Anonymous said...

I'm sick of seeing them gnaw each other's faces off every other minute too, & I'm also VERY sick of seeing those stupid pop up captions in every scene. "It would take 30 tape measures to measure all the Duggers put together" or whatever the number is. We get it!!! They are a large family!! That was established a long time ago lol

Anonymous said...

Probably not. They probably aren't even allowed to be alone with the Bates'. I wonder how that works when they come to visit the Duggars mansion. Are there cameras all over the house? Lots of nooks & crannies to duck into around there. Hee hee

Anonymous said...

J'Chelle calls her the grand kids, "Grand Babies," as that is ALL she can think about! Babies! What about your GrandKIDS, J'Chelle??

Anonymous said...

I'm about to go on a rant..

Michelle talking to her 21 year old daughter about having 19 + babies before she is even engaged is ridiculous. The fact that she has no dreams for her beautiful daughters, other than to compete for who will have the highest number of kids is highly disturbing. She wants her daughters to have babies within 9 months of marriage just so that she has a grand baby to hold.

I am so over Josh and Anna. Every episode is staged, and they are AWFUL actors. As such religious people they shouldn't be lying to (literally) millions of viewers, and making money off of those lies. What are the chances that Steve actually traveled to DC on a whim to check up on Josh. And what are the chances that when he did that, they happened to be eating a 4,000 calorie breakfast. We can see that Josh is over weight and it's only getting worse. Josh gaining weight, slacking with his diet, not working out and Steve surprising them while they eat the world's unhealthiest meal seems to be an old reoccurring theme here. If what was in Anna's pantry is actually what she buys…that's embarrassing. After hearing your husbands health concerns because of poor eating habits you are still buying all of that horribly healthy food? Why would they want to constantly be publicly humiliated like that?

Jinger (like all of the girls) is beautiful and has a great personality. She would do great things in her life if she was allowed to leave home without a buddy. Why can't she take photography courses at a college? Her skills are hindered and limited because she can't learn and further develop them. Jill and Derick are more embarrassing for me to watch than Jessa and Ben are. Jill acts like a 12 year old in her first relationship…she literally talks like a robot. "How sweet." "You are sweet." "Aw. That was sweet." (It's what her mom taught her to say- she is the spitting image of Michelle in every horrifying way). It's painful to watch. It's even more painful to know that these girls have never "gotten" to know any other guys before this, never mind held hands or kissed. They THINK they are in love, because they have never felt lust before. When lust fades, a lot of the Duggar kids will be in for a treat….but sadly they will be married with several kids and counting.

I think Jim Bob and Michelle are both lunatics…but out of the two JB is definitely the "better" parent. In pretty much every episode you at lest see him doing stuff with the kids; projects, playing with the little ones, one on one time. He is always the one to get more emotional about different things with the kids. Michelle just seems like a depressed, bitter woman. She doesn't clean, cook or work…yet she is never shown playing with the kids or even talking to them. I really wonder what she does all day? No wonder she is depressed and "wantin' to have more little ones." -_-

anyone notice Jana duggar wearing a heart necklace someone said she is in a courtship with someone named ben. is that true anyone know about it.

So scripted .. Steve just happens to drop in at breakfast...who do they think they are kidding. If they eat like this all the time the deserve what they get. For goodness sake the kids deserve better. I thought on that show with the Doctor that told Josh and Jimboob they were over weight with the risk of diabetes-- with Anna saying she might be to blame...this is a stoopid show..stoopid people...recycled episodes. This gig should be up.

Anonymous said...

Have they never been to a farmer's market before? I find that hard to believe. But then, maybe not since they shopped at knock off supermarkets before they hit it big.

Throughout all of this wedding hoopla, I do feel for all of Jill's buddies. She was way more of a mother to them than Michelle was and it'll be hard for them to see her move on, especially Joy. Princess Jessa's buddies...eh, I don't know.

So are Jana and Josiah...where are they? I'm praying for both of them.

Wednesday said...

Oh yes I am so sick of Anna kissing Josh. It looks phony. Actually Josh and Anna are both phony and contrived living off of Daddy's empire.

Anonymous said...

Re comment about Jana wearing a heart necklace. I only wish it was the case that she was in a courtship, but she has been wearing that for a very long time, since before Jill started courting with Derick. Sorry but I don't believe it's because there's a guy in her life.

Anonymous said...

Jim Boob knows when the cameras are rolling and a good parent does not shove his son Josh down the stairs or yank Josiah's arm or push Josiah out of the game or deny his children their right to explore the world through reading the classics, watching TV, the Internet and going to college. He is NOT a good parent.

Nice seeing paper towels on their Walmart baby registry. Is that a joke? Are they too broke to buy their own paper towels to make their own baby wipes?

And since they've registered for Subway and Olive Garden gift cards as well as soda and gatorade, I'm sure they need some frozen dinners. And maternity clothes. Don't forget some bath and body products and candles to relax.

I'm sure Derick needs a new set of tools to put all of those baby gadgets together. And batteries! Gotta get batteries!

And would it be too defrauding to put maxi pads on the registry too? Maybe some pregnancy tests for the next blessing!

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said "They probably aren't even allowed to be alone with the Bates'."

Can anyone cite a scene when any one of those children were allowed to stay home alone even in their own house? Has the family ever left just one young adult at home alone while they went on errands or a short trip? I've never seen it happen, but if someone else has, I'll stand corrected.

JB and M are terrible parents, but excellent passive aggressive authoritarians.

Jim Bob was saying during a talking head moment, that there are many picture of he & Michelle kissing before their marriage. He said they have told their kids they made a mistake, & the kids have "purposed" to remain pure, not even kissing before their wedding. Michelle & Jim Bob have been married for 30 yrs. whats wrong with pictures of them kissing before marriage? It's not like they gave away pieces of their hearts & it didn't work out for them.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous @9:20 9/19... I wholeheartedly agree with that. They repeatedly state that they were virgins at their wedding....so where's the sin here? Purity is defined by one's virginity, spiritually speaking as I understand. Pre marital SEX is a sin in the bible. Giving and showing each other affection is NOT a sin. These people are unnecessarily severe and need a "check up in the head".

I absolutely agree that Jim Bob though it was "sinful," that there were pictures of he & Michelle, kissing before marriage. After all these years he thinks they made a terrible mistakes by doing that. He was appalled at the thought that his kids might kiss before marriage.

Anonymous said...

Re Zoey and Jill being left home alone with Josie:
Where was Grandma Duggar? Wasn't she there too? I don't understand why they drag that poor lady around with them like she is a spry 30 year old. When they took her skiing with them I thought that was ridiculous. That poor woman kept falling and could have been injured permanently and broke a bone or something. Jim Bob is a thoughtless, inconsiderate son, IMO.

Anonymous said...

Regarding the kissing before marriage and purity. I agree that kissing doesn't make someone impure. But I think the Duggars believe that since kissing can cause arousal, I don't think they would use that word, I think what they have said is something to the affect causes thoughts and feelings that can't be acted upon. The feelings that kissing can cause is impure. I guess they don't realize that you don't even have to have physical contact to have "those feelings".

I would love to see Grandma move out and take Jana with her. Then Queen Michelle might have to get off her butt and do something besides drool over Jimboob, give interviews and obsess over the fact that she is not expecting but would like to be.
Jimboob should be ashamed of himself for taking his mother in and then put her to work doing his family's laundry. She raised her family and ahould be enjoying life. She most likely gets no peace and quiet in that house since the little kids seem to go to bed whenever they want.

Re: Jill being alone with Josie. I don't ever remember that happening. I remember Jill, Jana and JD being there with Josie when she went into a seizure. I remember Jill being with Michelle in Little Rock earlier when the same thing happened. I remember Jill being left in Israel with Michelle with Josie when Josie was sick. I remember Michelle's friend Cindy babysitting Josie. Even when the 4 older girls went home from Little Rock to the house, they were not allowed to stay there by themselves even though Jana was 20, they had to stay at Josh's. JD couldn't stay there by himself either, he had to have Joseph with him.

I think Jana may be courting someone. In one episode the older girls were discussing dating and they looked at Jana to see if she wanted to add a comment and Jana just shook her head as if to say "no, I don't want to reveal any information". Also if you notice Jana also wears a heart shaped necklace like the other girls wear to signify a relationship.

Re Anonymous 9/22 @9:56am comment, about what the Duggars believe about kissing. As long as the show/ministry has been on JB, Michelle & just about all of the older kids repeat the same line; It can lead to feelings that cannot be, "righteously fulfilled." Same thing with dancing. I remember Joy when she was only about 12 saying, "that's what Daddy says. I don't know what it means." They never say feeling that cannot be; "fulfilled." They always say, "righteously fulfilled."

RE: my thoughts comment. I do remember a time when Michelle went to see a "Passion Play," with the family. One of her first times out, after Josie came home to their own house. The episode was also billed as; "Jill gives Josie her fist piano lesson." It appeared that it was just Jill & Josie at the house in Springdale. Anyone else remember that ?

With all the talk about how Grandma Duggar is treated, I think she goes along with it herself. I never got over the fact that she let them film her husband just days & hours before he died. After the death of Grandpa Duggar, she allowed the cameras to film him in his casket, the wake, the whole funeral. That was when she should have put her foot down. She must have worked out some kind of arrangement with Jim Bob, or she never would have allow those images of her husbands last days, wake & funeral. Disgusting!

Anonymous said...

Re the Duggar kissing and "arousal". So, what are they animals or totally undisciplined human beings? They seem prideful in their piety and modesty so, if they allowed themselves to date traditionally and have a more affectionate relationship, they wouldn't be able to put the brakes on? Once again, a contradiction. This family is full of them.
I also would like to know why Grandma has to do the laundry, why not MIchelle, since she isn't "nursing or expecting" now for some time? Does Grandma have to submit to Jim Bob now since she is a widow? I can't see Michelle submitting to Josh and washing their dirty clothes, can you? I would like to hear from Mary Duggar and know what her religious views and beliefs are about submission, etc. As I understand even though Jim Bob attended a Christian school as a kid, it was he and Michelle who started this "Gothard" extreme branch of religion in this family. So, how was Jim Bob raised and where is Mary D on this?

Anonymous said...

I'm still waiting to hear MICHELLE justify why they continue to use paper plates, cups and plastic utensils for absolutely everything every day! With two commercial dishwashers there is simply no reason on earth for them to continue to do so. The mountain of daily garbage that this family puts out is a shameful thing.

Oh yes! Personal trainers frequently show up utterly unannounced to check and see if their former clients are exercising and eating healthy foods.
So do school teachers. My third grade teacher recently made a surprise visit to my home to quiz me on diagramming sentences. She also made me name the various state capitals.
There's nothing unusual or scripted at ALL about trainer Steve's visit to Josh.

I wish they'd leave Anna alone about her cooking. Josh is the issue here. Of course Anna has spaghetti and ranch dressing in the house, she has little kids and that's what they eat. Josh's big problem is probably more portion size and what he picks for himself (like snacks) more than what Anna is cooking. Even her Saturday morning breakfast wasn't bad except the volume of it. She made bacon and sausage both and it was a lot for two adults and two little kids. Even Steve's initial comment was about the portions. Two eggs, two pieces of meat and a biscuit would have been fine. Anna may well make a big breakfast on Saturday mornings, some people do and we know the Duggars do, we've seen that. Josh just needs to exercise is elbows -- i.e. pushing away from the table. Those kids eat vegetables, too. At the farmer's market they knew what they were looking at and Michael said he likes broccoli.
