Anna spends the day with Mackynzie ....
She's a stay-at-home mom. Isn't that what she does every day?

sandi said...

I think tlc is just baiting for comments with these titles. The Duugars never go hungry? who knew? LOL.

Alberta Rose said...

No. She works with her husband at the car lot, she does volunteer work, she spends time visiting other mothers. The TV episodes are like an iceberg, you only see the "top third". There is two/thirds that for various reasons are kept private.

That is funny, SAHD. Ditto.

Hannah said...

I think that means its just a girls day. Micheal is with his aunts or his dad.

Nancy said...

Anna stopped "working" at the car lot ages ago. She has two kids with naptimes, etc. Not to mention, Josh is at the lot about 15 hours a week, if he's lucky. The other guy, RD, does the lion's share of the work.

If Anna goes anywhere during the day, looking at her instagram pics, it's the Duggar compound. And an FU Internet appearance at a public library that will be shown on the 18th. As if she'd check out a single thing on those shelves. Remember, all they read to their kids are "Life on the Pond" and other "character" books (as if secular books don't teach the same lessons).

At any rate, she is NOT a working mother and even after she had Mack, she went to the lot to cook Josh lunch (one time that we saw), not sell cars or do paperwork.

The TV episodes are like an iceberg, you only see the "top third", but that doesn't mean the rest of the time is spent volunteering, visiting other mothers, etc. If the Duggars are doing such wonderful things, why aren't they showing us this on TV, instead of train rides, visiting farms, going to the dentist, eating in restaurants, etc?

How about Joshie taking care of all the kids while Anna escapes with her sisters-in-law for a relaxing weekend at the spa?

I'm surprised that nobody has commented on the fact that this episode is about how the Duggars keep their "bellies" full between meals. Wow. Snacks! Sounds like an excellent episode. I'll bet it's ALL fresh fruit and veggies. What a sorry waste of someone's time. How can this episode qualify as ministry? It's nothing but $$$

There have been episodes of them doing ministry work, charity work, street ministry, that sort of thing. People claim the Duggars are showing off, being unbiblical, shoving their religion down people's throats, that sort of thing so TLC is softening episodes like that. Also, some stuff the Duggas do is not shown on TV because the people sa "No you can't film this".

Betty said...

To a lot of people street preaching is not a good thing.

Rudy Tecat said...

Anna spends the day with Mackenzie? Isn't Mack her daughter? Don't they always spend the day together?

Nancy said...

==================================

Consider why these people refuse to be filmed. Might it be because they know the Duggars are the best hook for Gothard, Phillips, and Comfort (all of whom have held events that TLC wasn't allowed to tape) want to use the Duggars as the "hook" that brings unsuspecting families into the doors of fundamentalism? If those guys said two sentences on TV, the gig would be up for the Duggars' casual fans. Perusing fan sites, there are a lot of people who are either ignorant, willfully or honestly, regarding the Duggars' extremism.

Episode? Already forgotten.

Wow! Anna spends the day with Mackynzie??? Amazing. Makes you wonder, if she needs to be applauded for spending time with her daughter, who normally does?

TLC is reaching. Big time. From what I can see, Anna does not have much of a life apart from her husband and kids. I can't imagine that she doesn't spend every second of every day in that tiny house waiting on her loving husband and progeny.

An episode featuring snacks? More damage control. The last episode was so obviously going out of its way to remove tater tot casserole & pickles from people's minds, equating those things with the Duggar dinner table. Michelle was really exaggerating the "green veggies" and broccoli during the lunch scene with the little kids. I bet the number of times broccoli was said and shown on camera was more times in 5 minutes than the entire time the show has been on. Wonder what 'healthy' snacks they will be pretending to eat on a regular basis, while the bags of Skittles are hidden away in the big drawer next to the sink.

Sarah said...

No amount of veggies can wipe out the memory of the kids devouring a whole table full of junk in minutes in a green room segment a while back.
Anna and josh have both stated that Anna gave up 'work' in order to be a stay at home mother. It's mentioned at least 3 times in each baby special and in the episode after.

I do find the Duggars to be extremist. I take what I need and respect the rest, as I would expect them to do. I am a Duggar supporter and agree with many things they do. My son is no longer being home schooled; however they have inspired us to make sure we have Bible time in the morning. Our son is in a science immersion programs. The Duggars have inspired us to look up Christian Scientists and Professors to use their research, thesis and papers to enusre our son keeps a Christian perspective. When we had a family Christmas, my mother tried to provoke me into a fight by walking into my hotel room declaring "It's Christmas Day, I'm going to wear a Santa Claus sweatshirt". I thought of all the times I saw Michelle allowing women wearing pants into her home. My response to my mother was "That's your choice. Your grandson knows Santa as a character from a Samuel Clement poem". My mom deflated like a released blown up balloon. Tomorrow I'll be seeing my son off to school then going to my job where I'll share with my non-believing, Muslim and Budhist co-workers how excited I am to be going to my church's Stitching post, a group of women who crochet or knit things, 50% of which goes to charity because Michelle has inspired me to go public with the private. As I type all this, I'm wearing blue jeans and on the FM radio a country singer is declaring to a single woman he just met in a bar "I want to take a little ride with you".

Betty said...

Oh, good grief, Alberta. A better response would have been to ignore your mother's remark completely. I'm a Christian and wear secular Christmas shirts as do many of my Christian friends. The world doesn't have to be black or white, either or. That's the way the extremists like the Duggars make it. Most of us are much more relaxed and practical.

Really? She put on the baby seat on the table. They have warnings and other kids have fallen from those chairs.

Josh asking how much she spent. Do you report how much you spend on food?

I enjoyed this episode more than I thought I would. I especially liked them doing something nice for Grandma Duggar.

tigerlily55 said...

You would think at least with the younger kids there would be a scheduled snack time. Having that many kids running for snacks would drive me batty!

Looks like Josie is still doing a bottle? Or is that just when they're out?

Are the Duggars anti-vaxers?

mrspxyz said...

How much did she spend? When she answered her voice got very quiet. Did she say one hundred nineteen? It was almost like she did not want him to know.

DuggarGoth said...

I thought it was nice that they did something for Grandma, although it would have been nice for them just to give her a plane ticket and say "hey take off anywhere you want to for a week... no kids, no laundry etc..." but their hearts were in the right place.
I know consignment shops are way cheaper than retail but still 119.00 is a lot of money. Granted she ended up with a lot of stuff but I know I couldn't afford to do that every month. I am sure they can afford it though since they are living high off the hog going out to eat all the time (well, Josh mostly anyway) I really did enjoy this episode more than I thought I would. It was nice to see how Anna is with her kids.

Was that Gothard that Grandma Duggar got her picture with at the widows' dinner? I rewound and googled his picture. I'm pretty sure it was him, and he was acting like a diva as though the picture had to be taken quickly. I wonder if he ever envies the Duggar fame.

I thought it was kind of sad when Anna said: "Some girls my age are working or just graduating from College and that's there choice. I'm choosing to be a stay at home mom." This was followed by a weak smile. Poor girl - she does know what's she's missing. If the Duggar daughter's happen to read this, let me assure you, you have your late twenties and early thirties and beyond to have children. Enjoy your youth!

These latest episodes are getting really boring - especially for this early in the season when they should be trying to engage our interest to keep watching all year.

Maybe this will be the last season (hopefully?).

I found the segment with Anna (& Josh) really annoying-everything was about stuff being "cheaper". Anna talking about the baby food: homemade is 'better' BUT also "cheaper", cloth diapers: she's so busy now with 2 kids she just went to disposables-too bad, because cloth are "cheaper", buying consignment: a lot of nice stuff!, oh, and it's so much "cheaper". Ugh...If they're so considered about money (BTW-please Josh, don't ask your wife how much $ she spent on camera), then stop going out to eat 7 days a week. Anybody else catch the box in Josh & Anna's closet labeled in big, black letters "CASH"? That's been shown before (same place in closet) in some earlier seasons. Wow, if anybody wants to break into their house, they know straight where they should go for big stacks of money. How stupid.

Duggar snacks include pickles, cheese and chocolate milk. Great. I guess Michelle allowed all this to be talked about, so long as there was a shot of someone cutting up an apple on the counter. I did see a package of 'real' cheese in the fridge, however, it looked like the cheese the kids were actually eating (and feeding the puppies) was the processed squares wrapped in plastic.

I forgot to mention, didn't Jill look fantastic in a nice fitted dress and dress shoes?

No they weren't high enough heels, nor the prettiest patterned dress, but such an improvement from the long skirts and humpty dumpty button down shirts and flip flops. Jill you looked beautiful, grown up and very lady like.

Hannah said...

I feel bad for Anna she has to report all her spending to Josh.

tulip said...

Jill looked great-I almost didn't realize it was her (or any Duggar girl for that matter). Also noticed her wearing the "midwifery student" sweatshirt (when they went to clean up the house in the other episode). Lots of firing back at the critics this season, all those oh so subtle jabs.

Marion said...

I enjoyed seeing Jill and Joseph (?) take Grandma Duggar to the Widows Dinner. That was a very sweet thing to do for their grandmother.

I think that Mary (Grandma) Duggar, likes living with her son's large family. It's nicer than living by herself and being lonely. There are many older folks who feel forgotten by their families. Grandma Duggar is fortunate, IMHO.

> LOL.. was thinking just that!!! Ever heard of something called a "high chair" Anna?? They have warnings written ON THE CHAIRS that specificially say not to place them on a table. Much less place them on a table and turn your back. Many babies have fallen from those chairs and been seriously imjured!! Nevermind that those baby chairs have been recalled....

> I had 5 kids at Anna's age so she can cry me a river there. She's made her bed..literally. She stopped breastfeeding Michael IMHO because she wasn't getting pregnant soon enough for Josh to help Jim Boob and Mullet keep the baby machine moving. She mentioned more than once "hoping" for another baby.

Anna CHOSE to marry a man with no accomplishments to his name. Daddy gave him a house, job, career, etc. Daddy goes with him when making all decisions as Joshy doesn't have the intellectual output to accomplish anything on his own.

Knowing ALL OF THIS she CHOSE to make a fool of herself on TV constantly spouting the Duggar family line. She lets her husband pimp out her childbirth experiences for money while all the time preaching about modesty. In fact I bet Joshy makes TLC pay him in "CASH" for those little defrauding episodes. Seriously Anna; do you not see the hypocrisy in living the way you do, spouting about modesty and then doing things like that? Appearing spread eagle on TV, on a toilet no less. Is about the most un-modest thing I can think of. Oh, and before anyone points out that it was "blurred" or that you've seen worse on a baby story....
1) It wasn't blurred for the twenty or so people that attended that very risky mess.
2) The women on baby story and other such shows don't walk around spewing Gothard, and endlessly talking about modesty and being "defrauded". Those episodes had ME screaming NIKE.

In regards to the "CASH" box; I have heard of it before and I think the same thing about it now as I did then. I don't think Mr. Entitled Joshy boy is being honest with the IRS. It's pretty easy to buy cars in cash, report it to the DMV as having paid almost nothing, then re-selling in cash. You don't put your money in the bank because that creates a trail that the IRS can track if they choose to investigate. No other reason not to put your money in the bank where it can work for you. Yes, btw... I do think Joshy and Anna are vain and stupid enough to think that they are smarter and better than everyone else and wont get caught. After all, they are Gods special people...Gothard told em so!!

I'm happy for Grandma Duggar, I wish they would have let someone other than Jill take her out. I saw Jill dressed and it just another thing that makes me think that TLC reads this site. Stop trying to put perfume on the pig.

As far as the "midwife student" thing. I can't think of anything more dangerous. I'm sure this is some sort of internet Gothard sort of nonsense. Just who I would want assisting me giving birth; a 20 something that has no kids, has seen nothing, and still lives with mommy and daddy.... GAG me

I don't think there's anything wrong with Anna telling Josh how much she spent. They're married. It's from a shared account (since it's not her money, it's their money). I tell my husband how much I spent when it's over $100.

Elspeth said...

Anna telling Josh how much was spent was all for the episode anyway. It was likely someone from production really asking the question in the talking heads.

imaamy said...

At the start when Anna was at home wearing a white shirt, I was SURE she was pregnant. Then later on she said they hope for another one but nothing to tell at this point. Sure looked like a baby in there...

tulip said...

Interesting point about the "Cash" box, why else would people have a big ol' box of cash...there are such things called banks. Anyway, if I did have a box full of cash, I wouldn't label it "CASH", and certainly wouldn't have it in plain sight for the film crew to catch in a shot having it broadcast on national TV.

I definitely thought Anna looked like she had a baby bump as well, especially when she picked up one of the kids on her hip-it really looked characteristic of one and not just a pudgy or after-baby tummy-but, apparently not.

The production crew may have prompted the question about how much Anna spent, but it would be just like Josh to ask anyway, so he could look like he's in control of everything. Some advice I saw about one-income budgeting showed money amounts already agreed on for stuff like clothes, etc, so the husband doesn't have to ask 'how much did you spend?', and the wife doesn't feel inferior for having to be asked. Guess that would take away from Gothard's instruction on 'The Man of the House'.

The man and woman taking a picture with grandma Duggar was Pastor Ronnie Floyd and his wife Jeana. He is the senior pastor at a mega-church in the northwest Arkansas area called CrossChurch. They have three locations in Fayetteville, Springdale, and Rogers, Arkansas. The Springdale location is where the funeral for Jubilee was held and is the church that runs the private christian high school that Jim Bob attended, Shiloh Christian School.

My only hope is that Anna gets a lot of money & other benefits for being in this situation...that Josh isn't really how he is to be perceived on tv. I hope that they all live a fulfilling life behind the cameras that they choose not to share. Unlikely, but hopefully :)
