Josh is back up & running on Instagram now that he's not racking up a big phone bill, and touting all that's political. There are people commenting for the other side, as well as comments talking about some "evil" things the Republican candidate and his camp have done. Josh is a registered Republican (as he showed a pic of his mail a couple months ago), and therefore he will be voting GOP no matter what.

Wonder how all these random people in his pics would feel knowing they're on Josh Duggar's Instagram...he snapped a picture while waiting at the DMV. I would not like strangers taking pictures that I end up in. I can see Josh has absolutely no consideration for this, like the pic in Tokyo of the cab driver.

The Duggars were all at the caucus I attended here in Iowa back in January; Jimbob gave the official schpeel for the Santorum campaign. Anna, Josh, etc were there telling anyone who would listen how awful Mitt Romney was and why Mitt was the worst possible way to use your vote. I understand it was early in the campaign and candidates vilify each other in an attempt to bolster themselves. Still, it's all I can do to not post a list of their reasons whenever I see Josh post about Romney on Instagram.

Nancy said...

Tiffany, I've called Josh out on this recently on his Instagram. A lot of the evangelicals are going to sit this one out because of Romney's Mormon roots, but I understand the Duggars need to root for someone to keep themselves politically relevant. They just don't know how stupid they look in doing so; absolutely no self-awareness to be seen in their own "flip-flopping" of a candidate they despised 6 months ago.

Honestly, they would have earned more respect in a lot of circles had they stood by the courage of their initial convictions.

Leah said...

I'm very put off by people who openly, publicly pray for political candidates. Like if they pray enough, God will pick their "team". Remember that picture that Josh posted where everyone was praying for Santorum to win? (Nevermind that Josh was snapping iPhone pics rather than praying...) anyway, logic follows that either a) God answered their prayer and thought Santorum was not fit to be president or b) God did not answer their prayer. They never address this issue. If santorum had won, however, we would hear them saying that he won because God answered their prayers. And now they're rooting for Romney, whom they despised just a few months ago, merely because they hate Obama worse. How Christ-like. Which character quality does this behavior fall under?? I honestly believe that the Duggars' heavy political emphasis will be their ultimate undoing. There's a reason your mother always taught you not to discuss politics in polite company.

Just an observation, but did anyone catch the nickname of their neighbor, "Spook"? Although it is outdated, if is a very racist term, predominantly used in the South. I was shocked at how many times it was repeated during the episode. Yikes!

TLC is still fiddling with the schedule. I'll up new episode threads after they put up descriptions.

I've been watching a lot of TLC lately because I've been home with a new baby with nothing else to do. I've noticed that just about every other TLC show is being heavily promoted (Secret Princes, Abby & Brittany, Breaking Amish, etc.) but 19 Kids and Counting has not really been promoted or advertised. I hope this means that interest in the show is fading and this will be their last season.

Christy B said...

Michelle C.,

As a G.R.I.T., I agree with you that 'spook' is a sickening racist term.

However, if you had listened closely, you would have heard Jim Bob question Spook's name. The answer was that he was born on Halloween.

My firtborn's birthday is also Halloween and we got a good laugh out of that nickname for sure!

imaamy said...

I thought the explanation of the name was funny because the Duggars don't "do" Halloween but it wasn't edited out. I do agree "Spook" has other less humorous connotations. And the "food" the guy brought from the fast food drive thru? They'd be better off with Tater Tot Casserole!

Can someone help me out?... I've been trying to find the words "Character Qualities" in the Bible and haven't been having any success. Are these just Gothard's understanding of his own biblical interpretations that the Duggars have decided to lean upon rather than acknowledging the Lord and letting Him direct their path??

mom in texas said...

The nickname Spook caught me off guard as well until it was explained.Spook is an older, more offensive Southern term however I can say I personally know someone who also goes by the name who is also African American. I think it maybe relative to the region and person as to whether or not it us offensive. The producers chose to air this, which I can't say I'm surprised since in the history of this show, they have proven to lack common sense and judgement.

===================================

People have been hoping SOMEONE in the Duggar clan, their Christian, but non-ATI friends (they seem to have a few) would realize that as much as they read the Bible, they're not following IT. They're subservient to Gothard first, the Bible second, no matter what they say.

Even the creepy Maxwells don't dare to twist the Bible (they appear to be literalists), but rather focus on family organization and relationships, bibically based. I may not agree with the way they do things, but at least they're looking to God/Bible for guidance.

At any rate, both families take it to severe extremes, although the Duggars have become more liberal, at least in appearance (their worldview remains horribly warped). The Maxwells are more and more frumpy and isolated; they don't even read the newspaper and their only "friends" are the people in the church/nursing-home. They use the people who are generous enough to help them while on the road; sure, feel free to do 10 loads of laundry, and not pay for it, while you're here. The people who worship the Maxwells are the people I worry about, as I worry about Gothardites.

imaamy said...

I find myself strangely interested in the other like-minded families. Just checked out David and Priscilla's site and watched a short video where she asked God why are the leaves so beautiful when they are dying? OK, David has met his creepy match in her!

Becoming less of a Fan said...

Words cannot begin to say it, so I will just say WOW! Priscilla is a NUT!

Apparently Pris never got to photosynthesis in their Gothard "science" curriculum. But they LOVE the eye. I've seen it being "studied" on at least 3 episodes over the years. I guess it relates to how God sees all, but frankly, the Bible reinforces the importance of the believer to HEAR God's word.

Again, Gothard gets it bass-ackwards and throws in a guilt trip on top of his "science" lesson for good measure.

Doug said...

Trust in Bill Gothard with all your heart and lean only on his understanding. In all your TV show episodes acknowledge him and he will direct your path. (Proverbs 3:5-6 New Gothard Version)

Maybe it means that anything pretty dies, and that we shouldn't wear make-up and long hair and draw attention to our countenances! But, that wouldn't jibe with Godthard's living word.

Patrice said...

If you close your eyes and listen to Pris's video, it sounds like either a little six year old girl or someone on one of those sixties comedy shows on a LSD trip. This person cannot possibly be a role model for anyone, unless it is someone who wants to regress to their toddlerhood.

Nancy said...

Priscilla's video is really a representation of what you get when you scratch the surface and try to get any Gothardite to speak in abstractions. Since they see God as a living, breating entity who speaks TO them, they're really developmentally stunted. If anyone knows Piaget's stages of development, they're pretty much stuck in the "concrete" development stage, something most everyone else moves beyond by high school.

The Duggars aren't any better in this regard. They live in a concrete, black & white world of absolutes. No gray area; that would indicate critical thinking has occurred and listening to every single one of these people, it's evident that they're spewing a rote-memorized party line almost every time they speak.

IMHO, this is the reason they don't send their kids to public schools, which may actually be excellent where David grew up in the Chicago 'burbs (enough movies have been made about teenagers there: Risky Business, Ferris Bueller, Mean Girls, etc). Schools obviously go against their doctrine, BUT they foster critical thinking skills from an early age. The last thing Gothard, Doug Phillips, Steve Maxwell or any other cult leader wants is a force that questions their authority and truisms. It's sad that the act of questioning, or curiosity is seen as an act of rebellion to be quashed (eg. Young J-boy asks about moss. Instead of saying "I'm not exactly sure, let's look it up online when we get home," Jim Bob replies "It's God's carpeting." End of conversation. FWIW, I always heard that about GRASS. He can't even get THAT right. That's really pathetic, but it's the essence of controlling minds.

Just watched Priscilla's ode to leaves. Strange. Of course she has to mention Journey to the Heart, and that's when she first started realizing leaves changing, blah, blah. It sounds like she was filmed sitting on the side of a highway, with the way she had to talk over all the background noise, wind, and the loud honk of a car horn.

"she asked God why are the leaves so beautiful when they are dying"

I presume this is a Gothard-level attempt at a profound insight?

Class, let's spell: "D-U-M-B"

Nancy said...

And now for something completely different....

I happened to wander over to the Bateses' blog and it appears that Gil has started up his own lil' church. They're still IFB, but apparently they don't require divinity degrees to "preach." Gil's degree was in PE. Yes, PE. He minored in A&P. Interesting, because at most colleges, that's just one class on the pre-med track. *shakes head in confusion*

Kelly admits that Gil may "sit in on class" with Nathan at Clown College. I guess anyone who adheres to the dress code can sit in with their family member who attends school there (Tori accompanying Erin when she was 14-15).

On the positive side (I guess), it's not a homechurch, but frankly, there's not much difference between IFB and Gothardese; they're both extremist Christian sects with unqualified "preachers" in front of a trusting congregation. I DARE these people to bring in a REAL minister with real study under real ministers under their belt.

If leaves changing colors represents the beauty in "dieing to self" and allowing God to work in our lives, then what does it mean when they become a stinking pile of compost?

The thing with studying the eye is a good catch. I noticed that too. I know that the eye is one of the big contention points for creationists; they argue that its so complex and appears in so many different animals that it must be evidence of God's creation. Judging by the "christ-centered" education their receiving, I've always assumed that the Duggar kids learning about the eye was less about scientific enlightenment or straight-up learning, and more about memorizing "talking points," as it were.

Miggy said...

The creationists believe the eye is proof that evolution is not possible. The argument goes that there are many parts to the eye and the eye doesn't work without all parts (pupil, iris, cornea, eyelid, etc.). The eye could not have "evolved" because it is not possible each part to develop - the whole lot had to appear in one go. So, yes, as stated above, fundies have to learn all about the eye in order to argue against evolution. What they seem to miss is the thousands of examples of partially developed eyes that exist in the fossil records and even in some animals that exist today. I guess that is part of the reason for keeping fundy kids away from university.

I fail to understand the fundamentalists rigid view of the Bible as literal. The two oldest churches, who used to be one, neither take that view. I don't know where along the way, the fundamentalists began that view but it certainly does not fit within historical Christianity as I know it.

Too bad the Bates show was cancelled. Because if the viewers had a choice between the Bateses and the Duggars, I bet most would choose the Bates family. The Duggars have absolutely nothing left of interest to show. Absolutely nothing!

Yes, I understand they advocate that they can do anything in a skirt that is knee length, but I can't imagine these girls ever doing anything other than hiking a semi easy hike and walking. There is little to no running happening and forget any kind of aerobic/jazzercize/zumba happening due to the non-christian nature of the movements, i.e. DANCING, oh the horror! So while the men-children can eat anything they desire and gain all kinds of weight and are becoming unhealthy, the women folk have to "be careful" not to over eat. All because there is no intense exercising happening due to the ridiculous restrictions placed on them. Just because you attend weight watchers and actually follow the program, they at WW advocate exercise so you can treat yourself from time to time and not feel like you have failed. These girls and the young women of the family need an outlet, talking is not always enough. I know for me that a nice run alone helps to release anger, fear, and in general clear my head. Then again they are not allowed to feel anger, or fear and as far as clearing their head, there is prayer for that. Oh and going to "Mama and Daddy" (give me a break out of a 22 year old mouth (JMO)) for advise that is mandated to be taken as the only option. These people upset me more than they "encourage"me. JMO.

That's too bad. I was actually starting to enjoy the show. Maybe they'll do a special episode every once in a while when there are milestone events in the family (same goes for the Duggar clan.) Engagements, weddings, Bates or Duggar grandbabies, but please no more pregnancy announcements from the 45+ crowd. If you have kids that are old enough to marry and have their own kids, it's time to close down the babymaking factory.

No surprise about the non-renewal of the Bates's show - they were dull. It was nice to see a brief peek into their lives, but they don't have what it takes to make a long-term reality show.

I've noticed a marked lack of previews for 19 Kids and Counting on TLC these days as well. TLC seems to be actively promoting the shows that actually have some sort of scandal or surprising behavior, rather than the mundane day-to-day behavior of the Duggar family. I think this may be a portent of cancellation for the Duggars as well, if the network is no longer advertising their show.

I am really worried about Joy she really is carrying a lot of extra weight and it was very noticable in that red t shirt.

I also think Jimbob has the basketball net set at a lower level for the little kids and Josh and David were playing with it like that, they have no shame. And they were still terrible playing with the net lowered. By the way, even the middle boys should be shooting basketball at regular height at their current age.

Yep, not surprised at all about the Bates not being picked up for a second season. It was a complete yawn fest. I guess Gil and Kelly will have to go to plan B, whatever that is, because their dreams of making it big on television are over.

Patti said...

I think the Bates's plan B would include broadcasting from their new "church". Now that they have some (however small) fame, and they are starting their own church, they will probably get some sort of following for Sunday services. On their site, people are already writing in and asking exactly where it is located so they can drive whatever distance to get there. I think if they could get some local cable station to pick it up, they will probably have a whole new fan following. Just so they don't ever invite GOthard as a guest speaker...

tulip said...

If Kelly's pregnancy would have continued, and Zach & Sarah were together, I'm sure TLC would have given the Bates another "season", even if it was only 5 or 6 shows. Too bad. I guess TLC is keeping the Duggars because the numbers are still up...why? IMO, people just keep tuning in hoping for an "announcement". There's absolutely no reason they could find any of this other stuff interesting whatsoever.

Josh's instagram has a photo of Anna and another girl at an abortion protest holding signs that say "ABORTION KILLS CHILDREN" and they have big smiles on their faces!! You would think they would have the class to at least look somber while holding such signs. To me, this shows that they don't really take the issue seriously. It's just another personal appearance to "show" how much the Duggars care. They are LITERALLY standing on the street corner to pray, just like the hypocrites Jesus describes in the New Testiment.

Melissa said...

I'm glad that the Bates won't have their show continued. They would have followed down the same path as the Duggars if they had their own show. Maybe this way they can stay more "normal" and not think of themselve as super stars.

tulip said...

Just saw that Instagram photo, Anna & friend on the side of the road holding the "abortion kills children" sign, and it is so Duggar it makes me sick! What on earth is wrong with these people?-Standing there holding their signs and posing for the camera with big ol' smiles on their faces...absolutely ridiculous. Josh and Anna-you have a hit a new all time low. There's got to be a young girl out there, 15 or 16, and she just found out she's pregnant, comes from a broken home, maybe abusive, thinking she has no where to turn and no clue what do, terrified. Is she contemplating abortion? She needs to see a sympathetic, understandinding face who shows genuine care and concern, not a couple of girls saying "hi!, smile for the camera!" on the side of the road in their skirts and fashion boots holding their hot-off-the-presses signs. The comments I see about what a great example Josh & Anna are really make my stomach turn. This latest photo is the ultimate in poor taste, courtesy of Josh Duggar. Sad.

Leah said...

"They are LITERALLY standing on the street corner to pray, just like the hypocrites Jesus describes in the New Testament"

Exactly.

They act like they actually care about these fetuses. They picket and cry and moan and pray for these precious lives to be born. Then once they are born, FORGET THEM! They don't want to pay taxes to help out a mother or father who can't pay medical bills, feed, clothe, or diaper their child. Yet Josh complains about "those" people because they are inherently lazy if they need financial assistance.

One day I hope Josh finds out that hard work (which he knows nothing about) doesn't always mean you can be financially independent. Sometimes people struggle, and that has no bearing on their morality.

I do not mind their stance on abortion. I do, however, mind their approach on tackling the issue. It is a waste of time that does nothing but guilt a woman who already has way too much on her plate. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus would never be the person to hold an "abortion is murder" sign. He would be by the woman's side, speaking to her like a human being.

AMEN, Amen! You said that so well, Leah. I totally agree...

*sigh* honestly, when the Duggars started out 6 years ago or so on TLC, would I have expected this behavior from them? No. They just honestly seemed like this really nice conservative family who just happened to not believe in birth control. The stuff they're pulling now is ridiculous.

Josh and Anna could never begin to understand how a hard working middle class family where the mom/dad just got laid off from a job (and is told that all pension benefits are gone too) struggle to provide for a family of 4,5, 6...etc. They have no idea...
I just choke it up to the fact that they simply need to grow up still.

Re; Jesus would never be the person to hold an "abortion is murder" sign. He would be by the woman's side, speaking to her like a human being.

This is beautifully said. Jesus certainly did not want people to hide behind closed doors or hide their faith, but his is a message of PERSONAL love, not platitudes. What is with the Duggars and platitudes (i.e., holding up signs?). And, smiling for the cameras in front of such a place of heartache and personal strife is so off to me, I cannot believe it.

Other groups I know of go stand silently beside the clinics and pray...never "picketing" like Josh and Anna, just using their hearts to pray for the young women who are obviously going through a difficult time. I know some people might find that intrusive as well, but it's coming from the heart and NOT from a place of, look at me! I can hold a sign and smile for the cameras to prove I'm a moral person! Ugh...

I liked the Bates's show, although maybe it's for the best that it was canned. Perhaps they will remain true and sincere instead of manufactured. I don't watch the Duggars anymore because it's dull and I feel fame has made a few of them smug, which is disappointing. Overall, I do like the family, but fame and fortune can cause ruin. I liked how the Bates were "neos" at this TV thing and gave such honest and real responses. Hopefully now they'll stay that way. I pray the best for them and their new church.

Regarding Josh and Anna (two of the aforementioned smug characters), what I see are a couple of immature Christians who still have a lot spiritual maturing to do. They both need a dose of humility. God's love is so much deeper than holding signs. It goes beyond that, as many have eloquently stated. I respect their beliefs and even agree with some of them, but I find their condescending nature severely off putting. Many of you may not agree, but I don't get this vibe from Jim Bob and especially not from Michelle.

Just like Ireland was last year before the Jubilee pregnancy. Maybe a couple of specials will pop up. No one cares about Josh and Anna having a baby, they are just a regular young couple like millions of others. Only they believe they live at a higher standard.
I wish a real journalist would look into the cult like way of life and look into how the adult children and minor children are being compensated through their tv show and apearances and book deals. What ever happened to "A Minor Consideration"? They were all over the Gosselins.
Did the D Girls book come out yet?

I agree that Josh and Anna appear smug and have a condescending attitude. It does take much more than holding a sign to demonstrate compassion and caring for the unborn. Many people are in dire straits. I believe that my responsibility is to help, give, aid, etc. where and how I am needed. My life is not above nor beneath anyone else's. Do the Gothardites believe and teach that we are all equal in God's eyes? If so, why do some of the Duggars act snobbish, arrogant, and better than others? It doesn't encourage me at all, and probably is a huge turn-off to many. JMHO.

Josh and Anna will be growing up soon. When TLC leaves, and their income is restricted to what they get from the car lot once Daddy Duggar takes his cut, then they will have a real character building exercise. Because Jim Bob and Michelle will need every penny of their own money for the other 18 children left ar home. Josh and Anna will be left to deal with their own finances.

I expect that will also be when ther over 18 aged 'kids and counting' also get a rude awakening. They will find themselves 'apprenticed' to various people. Sort of like indentured servitude, since the Duggars like to live like colonial values.

Dugger's bill first proposed that the state issue temporary plates, but the committee rejected that idea after state revenue officials said that their use in other states led to counterfeit plates. That law mandated that each of the state's 3,000 licensed used-car dealers complete a three-hour industry education course by Jan. 31, 2001, to qualify for license renewal... His only jewelry, usually, is a watch and his wedding ring. His clothes are new but not trendy. His shoes are shined but not to a mirror finish. His car is a late-model GMC van. He's a wealthy businessman who meets the press in the Springdale Denny's and asks for a carry-out box for his leftovers.
"God's work in God's time will not lack God's resources," Duggar said, quoting a missionary saying. "We are free of debt. I am able to put several hundred thousand dollars into this race, and am willing to do that."...

State Rep. Jim Bob Duggar and his wife, Michelle, have more than a nuclear family. Consider it a nuclear explosion family.
In the last 10 years, they've had 11 children, including two sets of twins. Mrs. Duggar also has had one miscarriage. The young couple - he's 33, she's 32 - consider their children a blessing from God...Duggar, who does real estate work and recently sold a car sales business, is one of the 57 new House members this year. A Republican, he represents Springdale, but he and his family are living in a friend's very large home in Conway so they can be together during the months of the session. The friend is living elsewhere...
Mrs. Duggar, who graduated from Springdale High School, and Duggar, who attended public schools and Shiloh Christian School in Springdale, say they get help teaching and caring for their children from family and friends.
"It's always been tight.
But we've always had enough," Duggar says...

EDITORIAL
ONCE AGAIN, HERE THEY ARE, IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER ... The 10 Worst ARKANSAS LEGISLATORS

... REP. JIM BOB DUGGAR
REPUBLICAN, SPRINGDALE
His House Bill 1413 would have added most abortions to the state's definition of capital murder.
One of the two freshmen on our list of the worst.
He had bills on vehicle leasing, access to crime information, a tax exemption for used car sales, restricting some nude dancing, but opposing abortion was his passion.
It's fine to be anti-abortion, but Duggar's approach was alarming.
His House Bill 1413 would have added most abortions to the state's definition of capital murder, something he admitted probably (probably?) wouldn't survive a constitutional challenge. He wanted to "make a statement." Next time, Jim Bob, buy an ad, don't clutter the legislative process.

So he's a millionaire, but money's "tight?" And the admission that they accept help. There were a lot of pants (and frumpers) on fire when those articles were first published. Didn't they ever think that this stuff is public record and that the internet never forgets?

Josh posted a pic of taking Mackynzie out to dinner for her birthday...at Marketplace Grill-it looks more like an excuse for a meal for Josh & Anna to me, with Anna looking like "date night" and taking a 3-yr. old 'out to dinner'? I guess they skipped having a grand celebration at the compound?...maybe, why bother if it's not being filmed. Looks like Kynzie already has her own cross necklace-cute, but saving it for a couple years would probably be more wise...Duggar safety? My sister let her niece wear a heart necklace when she was about 3. She ended up pulling on it, breaking the chain, and lost the pendant, which was later found when her 7-month old brother was playing with it, putting it in his mouth. I guess everyone's always saying how the little Duggars seem so much older/mature for their age...

tulip said...

Also, gotta love Josh's followers-do they have any amount of brain?...someone asks how old Mackynzie is and then follows with to tell her Happy Birthday, "Im her biggest fan!!"-gee, you think if she was her "biggest fan", she would know how old she was. Duggar fans unite.

I would be very interested in a serious journalistic investigation into this family. No TLC, no editing, just the truth. And I would like Jim Bob and Michelle to have to answer to the truths that are found.

tulip said...

Interesting, all that's political back when Jim Bob was in the House. Looks like he had a big dilemma concerning himself with temporary license plates, lol! Maybe the story with Michelle and the laundry is why she's "so grateful" that Grandma Duggar is in charge of it now-she got used to not having to worry about it, and doesn't ever want it back. Jim Bob the millionaire-actually wouldn't surprise me, and seems to be hoarding money-IMO maybe he should think over Prov 23:4.

I called Mikey ripping it off her neck inside of a week. You just don't buy 3 year olds jewelery (I suspect Anna takes out Mack's earrings every night) unless it's edible.

I totally agree. A hard hitting reporter, not the fluff pieces of Ann Curry and Samantha and CBN etc. Something like Dateline, or 20/20. Not asking the same questions but the real questions. How our the kids compensated for making them money, ask about Bill Gothard and ATI.

I am really sick of the Duggar adult children covering for their parents on every question.
Even last night they were explaining that John David didn't need to move out. We think the truth is its against the rules for the kids to move out unless they are married. John David is a grown man and can't even watch a TV program, do you realize how insane that is?
Remember when they were all in Little Rock and John and Joseph got to stay home while the girls took care of the kids? I remember thinking how much fun that probably was for them. They didn't do anything, they didn't clean up after themselves or take down the Christmas decorations, probably didn't do their own laundry, the girls had to clean the dirty dishes when they got home. I hope they at least got to watch some TV or rent a movie. Neither of those boys seem like the type to read books. One episode showed them fixing some plumbing problem. But that was filmed to make it look like they were busy. I can't believe they made the girls clean up after them.

Also had the extreme pleasure of viewing David and Priscella's blog... I am now diabetic :( But, on the subject of Mr. David's gay-esque manner I saw a pic that was kind of telling in sooooo many ways. Not sure which post but he has a pic of a John Deer tractor. He obviously rode on it or something, but said other than the COLOR of the vehicle everything else went fine. THE COLOR of a John Deer tractor is what most men want. John Deer is legend, and all he has to say is a comment on the color. Not sure but that was kind of telling. I bet he helps Cilla decorate.

Yes, the DavidlovesPriscilla site is getting weird... In my opinion, the leaf story is REALLY weird, and don't get me wrong I understand the Scripture about "to live is Christ and to die is gain" but the leaf analogy is a bit much!

Thanks to the poster for the JimBoob historical postings - very interesting. Some of the most interesting stuff I've seen on this blog. Yeah, The Patriarch is a millionaire who, until TLC $ rolled in, had his wife and passel (oops, sorry, QUIVERFUL) of kids living a tiny, ugly RENTED hovel. The Duggars are such incredible B.S. and there's nothing holy about that fact, no matter how much the Duggars protest to the contrary.

Looks like Josh got some exercise, posting a pic of himself riding his bike 8 miles on a trail. Anna posted how proud she was of him. Just another example of how everybody else is at work, while Josh flounders around-pretending to get in a workout while taking pictures of the clouds. Must be nice to still be living off TLC with boxes of cash in his bedroom closet.

Leah said...

I'm assuming that Josh keeps a box of cash in order to pay less in taxes. Jesus addressed this when he said, "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" but I'm sure Josh doesn't see how that applies to him. And I'm sure that Jim Bob was the one who taught Josh to do that. It's dishonest and immoral IMO. But the Duggars are so much more moral than me.

Plus what kind of idiot keeps cash in an unlocked box in his closet, labels it as "cash", then allows cameras into his house to put it on national television?! But don't worry, now they've blurred it out. That should take care of it.

Just heard that the Duggars are supporting Todd Akin for MO Senator. This is a man who says that women who are victims of a "legitimate rape" have ways of keeping from getting pregnant. This supports his anti-abortion stance. I sure hope none of the Duggar family ever experiences any kind of assault, "legitimate" or not. I did like hearing the radio announcer pronounce Michelle's last name as 'Doo-gar'.

Josh is already enjoying and posting about his culinary crawls in Missouri on Instagram, but the family will apparently be out in force to campaign for Todd "legitimate rape" Akin next week.

Jim Bob has a wife, 9 daughters and a granddaughter. I find this absolutely reprehensible, but it shows just how extremist these people are behind the saccharine veneer that too many people bought into at some point; many people who post here have seen the light and I applaud them for being able to see through the facade. I was never one of them.

At any rate, I now expect the Duggars to back Fuqua, the Arkansas legislator who promotes the Death Penalty for unruly children. Yes, the guy is serious. Pro-life? As far as these people are concerned, that's only for embryos. It boggles the mind.

Don't let it boggle your mind. You will stay forever confused if you try and understand the backward logic of the Duggars. They support some of the most contradicting theories on Earth. They are victims of "group-think". I don't believe Jim Bob and Michelle have one original belief or thought in their head. They are also raising their children the same way. How many times have you heard one of the children say "I think" or " I believe" or "I feel" ? Never. You will always here "We believe" or " Momma and Daddy says" or "As a family we feel" and I am talking about the older blessings. The Duggars are a sadly misguided bunch who would follow a moron into the water even if none of them couldn't swim.

I think the only thing that can save this show (camera crew WAS spotted in Japan, so we'll see that) is a cross-over (or crass-over, depending on your POV) with the Honey BooBoo clan.

Enough is enough already-I just can't stand anymore of the Duggars parading around their "celebrity" for politics. First Santorum. They endorsed Santorum while making Romney look like the evil twin of the Republican party. Now it's full speed ahead for Romney. On to Akin. The Duggars have nothing to do with Missouri-they live in Arkansas, they need to get out of there and mind their own business. I have so many things to say about the Duggars traveling around, campaigning, eating out, and acting like they can save the day by "encouraging" people to vote, but it's making me nauseous just thinking about it. Josh is galavanting around, taking pictures of restaurant menus basically boasting himself a glutton, while there are honest, hard working people trying to make a living at "his" lot. Jim Bob & Michelle are parading around giving each other snaps and love pecks while Grandma is back at the house enslaving herself to 5 loads of laundry a day. Are some of the kids with them? Is this a "field trip" that counts for their homeschooling curriculum? Blech. Here's a newsflash Duggars: You're not all that.

And, so, 100 more bonus points to the Duggars on the Ignorant-O-Meter.

The Duggars fear legitimate science (including basic Anatomy/Physiology) because their entire belief system is based in the sand of the fervently Defies Logic category.

I'd expect nothing more from a Duggar than to soundly support a male who uses a term such as "LEGITIMATE rape". It's so dumb. It's SO Duggar.

sandi said...

It's downright scary the Duggars would support someone like Fuqua.
As far as Jim Bob and the explanation of the 'excuse' for Akin,IMO,his own excuse for that is nothing more than an excuse for the Duggars to support him.
I am really finding this whole political agenda with them to be downright frightening.I've noticed that ppl who tend to get into politics in such a manner,do so because they tend to be very controlling ppl to begin with, and this is just what we see with Jim Bob and Michelle, starting with their own family.Scary.

Nancy said...

There is some hope. Some people on the 19K&C facebook page have come out against Akin and are expressing disappointment that the Duggars are supporting him.

Most mainstream Christians I know, as well as most of the Republican Party, have distanced themselves as far away as possible from that nutcase Akin.

tulip said...

Really glad there are people on the Facebook page chiming in on Duggar support of both Akin and Fuqua-they need to be aware of what's going on around them. I didn't really think it was too over the top when they campaigned for Santorum, since he was running for President (until, of course, they decorated the bus and started "touring"), but IMO at this point, they've crossed the line, delving too deep into politics where they don't belong-and it shows.
The Duggars, and even some of their following, are coming off as just plain prideful with self-righteous tunnel-vision. There are fans who are upset that the Duggars are supporting Romney, because he is Mormon. Others have fired back saying not to get so geared up, that there's a separation of church and state. Ok, fine-not to debate one side over another, but simply stating a point-aren't there several issues where the Republican stance is Bible/religious based?..."Life begins at conception", "Marriage is between one man and one woman", etc.-It seems that if it weren't for The Bible, or religion, the core of these issues wouldn't be such a constant and huge debate, and isn't that bringing religion into politics?...JMHO. Just doesn't appear the Duggars are ever looking at the whole picture, just plowing full speed ahead with their own agenda.

Elspeth said...

Really some of those positions aren't Bible based, they're religion based and it isn't plain Christianity. It's fundyism based.

Bottom line, the young man is deluded.

According to the article, all the "kids" except John & Jill will be traveling to stump for Akin. This includes Josh & Anna and the kids. Josh has already posted pics at the rally of Michelle speaking and kids playing violin...ugh! So far the kids have been on several trips, to Asia and back, and now traveling state to state for rallys...I'm sure they're "homeschooling" on all these trips, in between all their work when at home caring for kittens, doing their chore packs, as well as plenty of time to goof around "getting out their energy." Likewise, Josh must be able to work pretty hard overseeing "his" carlot during all his travels. Don't worry Anna, I'm sure all the day-to-day changes in routine and fans fawning all over Mackynzie like she's the cutest kid on earth won't affect her sassy behaviors, or make them worse.

Wow, Michelle is actually wearing a different shirt for this one...white...interesting choice.

The story about a Duggar running afoul of the law was probably about a speeding ticket one of the girls got.

The article was on Jill's ticket. It told about how her mother laughed about it.

I was wondering, are Jim Bob and Michelle going to pay for Jill's ticket? Do the kids have access to money from the show?

tulip said...

I don't know, but I found it annoying Michelle was laughing about the ticket and told Jill not to feel bad. First of all, she was purposely breaking the law when she said she was speeding to get to a birth. Secondly, she sounded like she was trying to cover it up and not admit it was really that big of a deal. When Jim Bob asked her how fast she was going, she just said "too fast." Maybe this time she actually got caught...Jill seemed well educated when talking about small towns with "speed traps."

Just saw photos of the Duggars campaigning...looks like they went all out for Akin-the guys, and boys, wearing ties (shiny silver & gold) and bowties, Josh in a red disco-looking shirt under a blazer with his "special pin", Jim Bob sporting his standard royal blue shirt with suit, and Michelle...white shirt!-don't worry, she still has the royal blue-it's just under the white, topped off by a lovely (eek!) silver belt. Actually, at the podium, it looks like she's wearing a lab coat.

As Michelle laughed about Jill's speeding ticket, will she laugh whenever one of the blessings breaks the law in the future? Breaking the law is definitely not funny. Some entertainment to make your ears bleed whilst the Duggars were on the campaign trail for our buddy "Legitimate Rape" Akin last week:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zMF5pjkEtC4#!

The infamous "Blood Song." Look! Michelle is actually holding Josie! Since I don't think she does this while pregnant (would you if your bones were like Swiss cheese?), I think it's safe to say J20, as well as Duggar singing talent, are nowhere to be found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Wp_e3RTPD-w

JD is missing, which was known. But Jill is there and she was not supposed to be there. I guess the baby came early; that's the only reason she'd be allowed to stay behind basically alone. I guess JD had to crash on Josh's couch while they were gone.

Lastly, hit up Josh's instagram for a new picture. He looks more bloated than ever, but apparently back on a "diet," not knowing that the BBQ sauce he slathered on his turkey is about as healthy as a superfund site.

I watched the two videos of the Duggars singing on mute. One thing is that the younger kids looked tired, even had circles under their eyes, and like they did not want to be there. Then there was Michelle singing and not even noticing or caring perhaps that so many of her children looked worn out. Jim Bob looked like a snob at times, kind of looking down on everyone (and not because he is tall). Just hard to explain.

Those childhoods of the Duggar kids are not normal at all, and I fear for their well-being.

sandi said...

I find it troublesome that the kids are wearing Akin stickers, and that they are basically told WHOM they will support. And for the ones old enough, whom they will vote for.I would like to remind the Duggars that throughout history, our troops have fought and DIED for their offspring's right not just to vote....but to CHOOSE whom they vote for, which is basically none of the rest of the family's business,(unless they want it to be).I've always told my family that I can't tell them whom to vote for, they MUST "do the math", I.E.-do the research and figure it out for themselves! Whether they choose to vote straight party ticket or mix it up,it's none of mine, nor anyone else's business.
That said,I'm not going to name names, but I do there are other large, conservative families out there where the kids are of mixed parties, and they don't feel obligated, nor are they pushed,to support the parents' viewpoints on candidates.I find the Duggars black and white viewpoint on this to be very arrogant,as if anyone else's opinions other than their own are wrong, even though they swayed from Santorum to Romney, even badmouthing Romney at times.I find this to be very nauseating, hypocritical, and arrogant, all at the same time. It's one of the reasons I changed parties a long time ago;I just couldn't take the lies and nonsense like the Duggars and their party/candidate choices are spouting off any longer.JMO.

I would love to see an expose on the Duggars, ATI, Bill Gothard and the Quiverfull movement.

How they control their children, that wisdom is more important than knowledge, suppress women.

If I could figure out a way to do it myself I would. I don't think they would let anyone interview them they would ask hard questions about their beliefs and why they believe the way they do. Why they let a childless man dictate their life.

I wonder if Bill Gothard is up in a penthouse suite somewhere laughing at all the people who worship him.

I would love for any graduated Duggar to take the ACT or the SAT. There is no way their scores would be able to get them in college. They don't even have knowledge of common things like who Babe Ruth is.

Re:

The infamous "Blood Song"...

Just watched the clip. The only ones who look "happy" and engaged are Michelle, Jill, and somewhat Jana. Everyone else looks miserable to be there. And, I'm sorry, I cannot believe they would make children under the age of 10 sing, I should go to h-e-l-l for all eternity, but for Jesus spilling his blood. Yes, if you are bringing children up in a Christian faith, they need to learn about the cruxifiction, resurrection, etc., but there are CERTAINLY more age-appropriate ways to teach that and talk about it. I would not feel comfortable letting my kids sing that song, and they are in the 11-14 age range!

That kind of thing can be terrifying for children, when they really need to learn the message that God loves them, all the time, no matter what.

tulip said...

Several things bother me about the Duggars and their need to feel they have to be such a big part of the political scene, and the kids wearing the stickers is one-actually, just the fact they pull their kids in and play off of that. I understand that when kids are young, they go along with what their parents do/think. I'm also all for educating kids on American government, voting, etc., but what the Duggars are doing is NOT the same. Josh posted a pic of the bus now adorned with "Akin", like they did with Santorum...they're pusing their agenda and doing whatever it takes. He's Missouri, the Duggars live in Arkansas, etc.-it couldn't be more obvious. And who exactly is the "big show" for anyway? At the campaign stops, they're all signing autographs, set up at tables with their books, posing for pictures, and everything. Josh & Anna posing like they're Will & Kate...please.

I have a very hard time believing that anything the Duggars eat is ever REAL food. The Chicken biscuits they made with something called Natural canned Chicken. Sorry there is nothing NATURAL about CANNED Chicken. Couldn't they have used a roasted chicken from the store and shred it themselves? It probably would taste fresher and altogether NATURAL. I once bought canned salmon for a recipe. I thought it was weird to be buying it and when I opened the can I wanted to vomit (sorry for that). I just can't imagine that canned chicken would be any better. If it's not tuna, it does not belong in a can (that is meat products). This is just wrong on so many levels, IMO.

I know we are not discussing other blogs here...Being not raised in this horrible culture, I never fully understood why some things would be so harmful. I don't agree with the whole courting thing but never imagined how damaging it could be. After reading other peoples perspective about purity, courting and other topics related to these issues, I can only say GOOD GOD get those girls away from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and all things QF/P/Gothard. These people have been brainwashed and therefore brainwashed their children into believing something that is so false and damaging. These children are taught that love has a finite limit. They advocate that love grows but then say that if you love before it is in the Lords timing you are giving pieces of your heart away and there is no way to fully love the one the Lord has really meant for you. This is so confusing. So the only way to avoid any of this is to either marry way too young or cut yourself off and void yourself of all feelings of love and sexuality. If that does not take years of therapy to reverse I don't know what will. These kids and young adults are all going to need help in some form. Clearly Josh is not happy. Anna is just saying things she is taught to say, Jana is a lost hope, Jessa/Jinger (I don't know which one) wants out but is being suppressed by her older sister Mom Jill...the list of damage goes on. As happy as Michelle makes us believe she is, I can't help but wonder if the guilt from having had a high school boyfriend that has taken pieces of her heart may have in some way damaged her as well. Has she always been this passive and quietly spoken person, or is this just her way of being submissive and trying to please the Lord and her Spiritual Leader in Jim Bob? This is not right either. Not that I even want to imagine their bedroom exploits, but I doubt it is much more than an obligatory transaction being made. I can't imagine there is much more going on there. Just a thought.

Watching those clips, it is hard to believe anyone actually requests this mob to sing at anything, ever. That is truly painful to the ears.
And why do all the songs sound alike? There is no intonation, no variance in rhythm; most songs they do are sung in about a five or six note range. But of course, it is hard to learn music theory or
proper voice training at the SOTDRT. One more injustice these parents have done to the few that possibly have potential. Usually one would figure out which kid really has potential and interest, and pays for some education in the music field. Same with art, sports, gymnastics, whatever. But to force 19 kids to stand and sing when they clearly don't have that interest or ability is sad and pathetic. More robots off the Gothard processing line.

" Real-estate executive Jim Bob Dugger and wife Jennifer, who had their latest child earlier this month and have been featured on a series of documentaries on The Learning Channel and the Discovery Health network, "
They didn't get Michelle's name right. Furthermore, the earlier specials have been edited to keep anything from airing that might turn viewers off.

"They act like they actually care about these fetuses. They picket and cry and moan and pray for these precious lives to be born. "Then once they are born, FORGET THEM! They don't want to pay taxes to help out a mother or father who can't pay medical bills, feed, clothe, or diaper their child. Yet Josh complains about "those" people because they are inherently lazy if they need financial assistance. "

Like Josh has any room to to talk about lazy. The key to the whole problem is preventing unwanted pregnancies. If you can't afford a baby, why have one? It is amazing when people get pregnant , complain about the cost, but do nothing to prevent. But you would never see the Duggars hand out tracts on pregnancy prevention. It is possible to be pro-life and pro-birth control.

I agree,if birth control prevents abortions, then what is the problem?jmo.

I have huge problem with most of everything the Duggars do. Today my gripe is about the birthday party decoration supply shopping. Um what happened to shopping inexpensively? Michael's and Joann are not the place you want to go for these supplies. If you are having to shop for birthday supplies every month then go to the Dollar Store. They have everything you need. Otherwise don't try to advocate to everyone about buying used and saving the difference, or try to make it seem like you don't spend frivolously. Also if they shopped at the Dollar Store they could buy 100 real glass or ceramic plates that can be used over and over rather than the paper ones they buy over and over. These people really have no clue.

Does anyone know anything about Susanna Keller? She seems like a mainstream Christian young woman. She is married and expecting a girl in March. She is on FB and talks about the baby all the time with never a mention of her husband. Before announcing about the baby she was off FB for awhile and is vocal about her pregnancy but never mentions her husband. What gives?

Regarding Susanna, I'm not comfortable with a lot of discussion of her life as it is not now shown on TV. Susanna was engaged, but is no longer. She seems to have gone back to Texas.

Ok I agree. She seems like a fine young Christian lady. The Keller way of life is interesting. The Duggar children have towed the line and Keller kids seem to have found their own way. Including Anna, she has chosen to stay in the close knit Gothatd way of life and I find it interesting when someone choses different. I 100% don't want to pick on Susanna.

I'm so weary of seeing the Duggars pig out at restaurants and on tater tot casserole,as well as ordering 20 or so take-out pizzas like they did for the fireworks. There are plenty of people who barely have enough to eat in their own state, and probably their own town. For once,I would really like to see them give back, instead of pigging out and gorging themselves and giving 'the thumbs' up for it.
For example,Jim Bob could order those 20 pizzas and have them delivered to the house. Then he could tell the family that instead of dinner tonite, they are all going to fast and pray while they serve the pizza at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. The girls at the Journey to the Heart have to fast and pray for a day,so why can't the rest of them? I think it's only fair they have an understanding of what it's like to be hungry, just for a day.(Put a lock on the fridge,too).IOW-time to stop being such a glutton and put the shoe on the other foot,Duggars.JMO.

So much of everything revolves around food for the Duggars, probably why Josh developed such a passion for posting pics of his meals and spending all his money eating out. I can barely stand to hear them recite, "food, fun & fellowship" one more time. And what's worse is the food the Duggars make is all the same, as they shake the one-piece, jelled cream of mushroom from the can, and drop fist-fulls of cheese over everything. It baffles me how there was such a huge response to the 'chicken in a biscuit' episode, with the massive outpouring of requests for the "recipe." Canned chicken with shredded cheese wrapped in a crescent roll smothered with canned cream soup...really?

BTW, I also was annoyed by the close-up of Anna showing off her pizza with a "thumbs up"-I can't bear to watch anymore of their eating, and chewing with their mouths open or while talking or laughing. Yuck.

I just read Josh bought a $100 hamburger at a fund raiser and then took the kids to dinner. I guess so much for being frugal. Ic an't imagien Jim Bob spending that much for a hamburger.
Josh and Anna do a few things different but tow the line enough to keep from being shunned.

Elspeth said...

The hamburger actually costs $7 as Josh said in his instagram. It's an expression that's used to call it a hundred dollar burger. So no he didn't spend $100 on a hamburger. :)

Wikipedia has an explanation.

I just realized that today is Joy(less) Anna's birthday. Since Amy tweeted that she was taping with Anna the other day, I wonder if there's another wacky "concept cake" in the future for Joy's party. I'm pretty sure that was what was being taped since they wouldn't dare have a party on a Sunday (nor do I think the TLC crew works most weekends). I also tend to think it was Joy's party since other than Josiah and Jill when she was younger and part of that buddy team, Amy's the only person who truly seems to care for the poor girl.

I don't like Amy much, but I will give here that.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THIS.

Jana at home with all kids getting ready to board a plane. In her interview she says

"I enjoy it, and I am glad that my parents have the given me the opportunity to learn these skills".

That says it all.

Marites H. said...

That says it all....Jana can read from a cue card and recite the Gothard party line from memory. It's certainly been drilled into the sister moms that their place is in the home caring for children (even if they are siblings not actually their own babies).
