We saw John David and Joseph painting Josh's "new" car lot (another property of Jim Bob's) on Instagram. Nothing to see here.

*zzzzzz*

Wasn't thrilled with the dogs eating cheese until they vomited. Wasn't thrilled to see Mack and Jordyn or Josie on the edge of the dining table reading to plummet onto the tiles. Apart from that, I did enjoy watching them rehab the new house they purchased. It will be beautiful. Also happy for John David getting this opportunity to work for the bank in exchange for a home and property.

That house could be gorgeous. Anna deserves it just for the Niagra Falls 9 months pregnant trip, toilet bowl birth, and generally putting up with Josh. She should get the big pretty house with patio and view and get off that busy highway they live on.

I guess Jimbob rented out Grandmas house. Didn't Anna and Amy go to grandmas house for the knitting lesson? That was after grampa had died so Jimbob lied saying she has lived their since his death

What happened to the car lot footage?

This episode made me want to cry, thinking of the fates of those poor animals, especially if they're still alive, now that they're headed off to Asia for a good chunk of time. :(

Showing Josie at the dentist was cruel, but they had to do an FU Internets! scene to prove they did take care of their kids' teeth. Now that they have money, sure. Before the specials? Not so much.

Anna and Amy "knitted" at Anna's place.

I agree about the dogs. Who in their right mind would leave a pet or a child in Michelle Duggar's care? Letting a pet eat whatever it wants to the point of getting sick is beyond irresponsible. And any reason why the crew just kept filming it instead of stopping those kids from giving them all that junk? Their own mother doesn't have the sense of a brick but I thought the crew was somewhat educated. Guess not. I wouldn't let Mother of the Year babysit my pet rock.

I think that was probably the grossest episode I've ever seen. Duggars taking care of dogs... really? I noticed that Jim Bob sat them all around the table to discuss about the details of renovating the house.... now why couldn't they do that with the kids before the puppies got there? That way they could have told the kids all at once, that we don't feed cheese to the puppies. Once they kept showing the kids giving the puppies whole entire slices of cheese I knew it wasn't going to turn out good. Poor puppies!!
The house they were renovating looks like it has a lot of potential. It'll probably go to one of the boys though. I guess Josh would be the logical choice since they are outgrowing the house they are in now. Anna really deserves something nice. Oh and one last thing... did we really have to see the kids go to the dentist... again. Yes, we know they go to the dentist every 6 months, we've seen it. How nice for them, some of us can't afford to go on a regular basis.

Either Grandma or Michelle herself was at the table while the kids were feeding the dogs that nasty fake Kraft "cheese." I saw the black shoes/stockings in several of the low shots, over to the right, towards the middle of the table.

So one of those women condoned it and Michelle complains about lack of discipline and "training" the dogs AND the kids (as if they were also animals). Hon, you RAISE children to be responsible adults. You don't train them to do your bidding without options or interests that stray from the Gothard model.

The scene with Mack was an obvious nod to the internet critics who said Michelle never pays attention to her grandkids, yet the scene we get is one of "correction." and Michelle lauding how well Mack has been trained up (by virtue of her 2 year old guilt, I suppose).

Vile, vile woman.

I don't think the crew is responsible for intervening in a situation, especially if the mom's there. They're just supposed to record what happens.

I agree that those blessings should not have been allowed to feed those puppies cheese up to the vomiting scene. I wouldn't leave my puppy with the Duggars for even an hour. JMHO of course.

The bubble stating that Michelle, Mother of the Year, was alone with several blessings under 7, was special. Michelle, you are so proud of the fact that you gave birth to EACH one of them, therefore, take care of them. It's just a no-brainer to me.

Again, a woman can give birth to a child, but still not be a mother. JMHO.

I really think they went to Grandmas to knit with grandma, unless they were at Amys moms house with grandma. I know just the two of them knitted at Annas. I thought it was soon after grampas death. I will try to find it on youtube.

Jimbob sure did change his mind about talking trash about his dad (at least on TV still does it as part of his testimony)

What genius left their dogs with the Duggar kids? Poor dogs. The kids are such great kids also aren't they? And good listeners.

Mackenzie speaks very well and in complete sentences. Some of that is from being a 1st child with an adult all day. If her and Josie are the same age, Josies delays are noticable but she is around little kids all the time and that's not helping. Josie and Jordyn need speech therapy. One of the little boys was mumbling so bad they should have put subtitles in. If they were seeing therapist I think they would show it on TV. I never talked baby talk to my kids because I wanted their vocabulary to sound proper. Michelle saying "tummy" and words like that is silly baby talk.

Someone mentioned how the word "witnessing" annoys them, the word "fellowship" annoys me. It was overused at my church and probably every church in America.

Since you raise cattle and rear children, Michelle has a long, long way to go.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Definitely not, but I personally could not stand by and watch someone abuse an animal (even if it is just abuse out of pure stupidity) and not say something, no matter what my job was. Michelle checked out of reality years ago, someone needed to step in. I hope the owners of those dogs saw that segment and know enough not to take their pets, children or anything else over there.

I feel sorry for Josie. The entire episode, she was either crying, at the Dr.-crying, throwing up in the trash can after getting annoyed by Mackynzie, at the Dentist-crying again.

I did like the outing for Grandma with Jill & Joseph-very sweet. Too bad all Michelle could talk about was how much laundry Grandma does.

The knitting was at Amy's Moms (i.e. Amy's) house. "Grandma's House" from the rental episode was not the house she actually lived in at the time, but a rental/investment property she had. JimBob talked about that...

Josie is two months plus in actuality three and a half adjusted months younger than McKinsey and at age two that can mean a lot. I personally think Josie's speech is better than Jennifer and Jordan's at her age which is no mean feat considering that they had just put tubes in her ears for chronic ear infection. I do agree that Michelle probably should have intervened sooner with the dog feeding, but maybe she doesn't have much dog experience to realize how quickly they get sick. My concern was Josie's lactose intolerance if she still has it and all that unsupervised cheese. Originally when I saw the preview of her getting sick, I thought thats what had caused it.

I liked this episode much better than the other recent ones.

It was nice to see Michelle take care of so many young kids on her own. I could have done without seeing the dog puke on the floor though, ugh.

I liked the way Michelle dealt with the kids - no yelling, but calmly telling them to stop feeding the dogs "people food". She dealt with McKenzie in a loving way when 'Kenzie hurt Josie.

I enjoyed seeing the older kids clean the abandoned house, and hearing Jim Bob talk about properties as investments. This family supported themselves before TLC came along, as Jim Bob and Michelle both had several businesses and both were realtors.

Having a small business is a good way to avoid big taxes. Business expenses are deductible, and that reduces the AGI. Depreciation on the properties is also deductible.

I personally know someone who gets almost $35,000/year from allowing a cell tower to be installed on her land.

Jim Bob is quite savvy when it comes to such things.

It was a nice change to see Michelle actually taking care of her youngest blessings, but I (as others have said) could have done without the close-up of the dog vomit, or Josie's vomit. So much vomit. Really? Is this what constitutes wholesome family television these days?

I was doing other things while watching it and did a double take when I saw Michelle on the floor cleaning! I've had a sick dog before and know that isn't easy and you just move from one spot to the next trying to keep up.

TLC must think bodily functions increase ratings, like vomit-sound familiar? (Kate Plus 8) Yuck.

At least Michelle gives credit where credit is due- she said John David was a hard worker. Jim Bob said that it was John David (not Josh) who used the crane driver at age 12 to help build their house. Let this be a lesson Michelle. Does anyone remember when she used to laugh and giggle talking about John David, like she was ashamed of him? Maybe I am just misinterpreting all her laughs/giggles? I wonder if she does that when she's nervous.

I agree videotaping Josie getting her vaccines and going to the dentist is unnecessary, but we already know they hardly limit any videotaping.

I also agree that Anna deserves the large house... she'd have to clean all that without Joshie's help, though. And, I don't think Josh deserves that big of a handout from his parents when he can't do any physical labor (it's always delegated to John David or Joseph for the hard stuff)

Melissa said...

Of course Jill has to be the "big helper" going with Michelle and the kids to the dentist... gag me. She's as lazy as Joshie. She just wants to run her mouth and boss her sisters. Anyone notice Jill's look of disgust when Jim Bob was talking about going to work on the house?

I took a year hiatus from watching the show awhile back. I think it's time for me to take a permanent hiatus.

I think Michelle made some sort of hesitant "I don't think you should be feeding cheese slices to the puppies" comment. Sounds more like a first-time teenaged babysitter who is unfamiliar with house rules rather than an experienced mother of 19.

I would have really liked to have seen Michelle speak up loudly and say "We do NOT feed the puppies people food!",instead of just letting them do it.Real discipline is this family is severely lacking.
If the housewere for Josh n Anna,I would think they would have been there? Jim Bob said maybe for one of the kids,so perhaps they don't have any plans for it as of yet.
Did Jim Bob actually do any of the work? It seems he and Michelle are good at supervising the kids/house,but don't do a lot of the actual work.I don't see how cleaning a house could be considered a 'field trip' for their homeschooling,as one of the girls said.Nor do I think it was their responsibility to clean the place. If Jim Bob wants to buy properties that need cleaning, then IMO,he should be the one to make sure it gets done.I think a fairer way to do it would be to pay the ones that want to help. Not holding my breath there though. And I disagree with Michelle that this teaches them the value of hard work...again,the house was not their problem.
