Newlyweds, David and Priscilla, visit the Duggars fresh off their honeymoon! Later, the Duggars go on a turkey hunt! Will Jinger and Jim Bob bag the first bird or will Joseph and Josiah be bringing home the turkey bacon?

How romantic! LOL

This sounds like a really pointless episode. I hope they don't show a video of where they went for the honeymoon like they did with Josh and Anna when they showed all the beds.

Noooooooooooooo!!! let me guess... They are now expecting and we have to have those pointless and strange people on the show because nobody else is having a baby. I wish John David would go find himself a nice girl. I would much rather watch another strange
"courtship" with one of the Dugggar kids than I would watching David and Priscilla. David creeps me out!! He's like, inbred Michael Jackson creepy. I'm not so sure he should be around kids.

NOW will they announce her pregnancy, which happened well after their honeymoon (doing the math, she got knocked up in June). They had a month-long honeymoon, so they saw the Younger Duggars sometime in March. I remember pics, but not a precise date. At the time ANNA looked to be the one who was knocked up.

Even if it wasn't part of the original episode, I'm sure TLC will put up a word balloon or edit something in at the end about the pregnancy. Somebody's got to be pregnant to keep the show going, right? I just don't know how much of David's creepy, man-boy voice I can handle. Eek!, I cringe just thinking about it.

David is a bit odd and creepy, to be sure. It will be interesting to see if TLC takes them on. Seems to fit their line of programming these days.

I don't think I can stand David being so condescending to the rest of us.I won't be watching.

Stephanie said...

David & Priscilla do live at a "higher standard" than the rest of us.

Nancy said...

If by "higher standing" one means self-righteous and condescending kids playing house, then I guess this term would be appropriate.

These are people who believe a twisted version of the bible, and fear fire and brimstone dare they leave its grasp, which with David still working at HQ, AFAIK, keeps them directly in Gothard's insidious grip. Gothardites (we've seen this with the Duggars, Dad Keller and now David Waller), this arrogant superiority that conveys that anyone not doing it like they are is doing it WRONG. Here's your polo shirt and khakis (pants or skirt, depending on gender). Enjoy!

I've heard David pontificate at the wedding (long version) and sat through a painful speech he gave at Portland church a few months ago (on their blog). Very telling, but more of a jerk than a speaker who will win souls for Christ.

Does anyone know if David and Priscilla have their own place to live? I keep thinking I read on their website, when they first put it up, that they were going to bypass having their own place for a few years at least, so they could be free to be missionaries, not be tied down financially, etc., etc. I got the feeling they were just going to travel and I have been wondering ever since they got married where they were going to live, if not on their own. Does anyone else remember reading something along those lines? Just curious. And by the way, to say I feel sorry for Priscilla is a huge understatement. But then again, her new voice irritates me to no end; hers is the worst of everyone's, including Michelle's. Thank goodness Anna does not seem to have that baby voice, though I think her mom does a little bit.

David is VERY creepy!!!!! Pricilla is OK. The sounds like such a pointless episode. Whatever. TLC is getting worse and worse theese days.

The shows are growing more dull. I guess Priscilla is a replacement "daughter", one that actually got married, while the rest just live like 12 year olds for the rest of their lives.

I don't know too many 12 year olds who do missionary work, or work as a midwife, or a photographer, or a doula or run a tow truck business or are studying to become a videographer.

Re:

I understand your point, in that the older girls have outside interests that go beyond what a 12-year-old typically does. Yet, saying Jill "works as a midwife" or Jinger "works as a photographer" is not entirely accurate. Jill is not working as a midwife, she is training to be a midwife apprentice, which means she tags along and helps out with what the midwife needs her to do. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's not a full-time paying job, whereas most other 20 year olds who earned a G.E.D. or high school diploma several years earlier have had paying jobs outside the home for several years. Jinger's photography business seems like a part-time gig...again, nothing wrong with that, but we can't really paint her as this full-time working person who is well beyond 12-year-olds in terms of "holding a job."

As for as studying to be a videographer, that seems more like the camera crew showing kids how stuff works...not exactly accredited learning or something that will qualify those kids for long-term employment.

The Duggars will never grow up until their captor parents release them from the prison that is their home. For their sake I hope the show ends. Once the TLC money is cut off, Boob and Mullet will realize they cannot continue to support little kids, pre-teens, adolescents AND full-grown adults. The adults from 18 on up will need to go to school or training, or at the very least take jobs at Wal-Mart, move into cheap apartments and learn their way around life. It's very sad that it hasn't happened already. It is strange how fast life passes and you realize how quickly your kids' childhoods go by. But it is also extremely satisfying to watch them grow into adults and take everything you have taught them to become mature and independent adults. Wonder how long it will take Boob and Mullet to figure this out.

Not 10 minutes into the program and Josh is showing his jealousy again. Why is he so threatened by Priscilla's little man-boy? He acts like a bully. And the two of them trying to one up each other. Josh looks like a fool and David, well why is even on the show at all?

Anonymous said...

Just saw the episode. Josh has definitely packed on a few pds. The unicycle part was a bit much. Though, Priscellas husband is good with the violin. You could tell Josh was feeling the heat. At the turkey shoot Jim Bob was being his usual self. But, the birds and bees talk with his daughter in front of the hunt guide was a bit tacky and I am sure she was mortified. Ahhhh The Duggars....

han said...

I got one look at the preview before I shut it off, Josh is so annoying with "can`t always win".

Carrie said...

David gives me the creeps too. But so does Priscilla. They seem so fake to me, all that kissy-kissy showing off.

Josh made a complete fool of himself. I wonder if Anna was embarrassed by the way he was acting.

If there's no new pregnancy or courtship next season, this show will definitely be toast.

Nancy said...

Man, that footage of David and Pris was filmed in the late spring and boy, the camera added about 20 lbs. to Josh's pictures of himself (which were bad enough).

It's bad enough when you're 24 and can't hold your weight to get into an armstand. Pathetic, actually.

"Food for the freezer," eh Michelle? For some of those kids, it's more likely to be food for survival the way they're not being educated. Leave and cleave, riiiiight? They're so successful at that...again...NOT!

DuggarGoth said...

Most of this episode just grossed me out. I don't know why all the married couples have to show off how they can finally kiss now. It's just not necessary (and looks so staged.) David and Josh are like little boys on the playground trying to 1 up each other constantly or trying to see who has the best toys.

I really enjoyed getting to watch the girls get to fire guns although we could have done without the birds and the bees from Jim Bob... very awkward. I'm sure at age 18 Jinger surely must know where babies come from after her Mom has had so many.

I got a bit of a chuckle when Jim Bob said "we're in the middle of a forest" while he was standing out in an open field. I know they were kind of in the woods after a while so there is no criticism on my part, just cracked me up a bit.

Rainbow68 said...

"Hey, let's get a game of basketball going!" "Great! I'll just go get my pressed shirt, khakis, and loafers!"

Patti said...

The whole birds and bees thing was ridiculous. At 18, Jinger must certainly know what she needs to know about things like that. Too bad she will never get to experience any of it. And even if it was Boob's job to give the talk to 18 year olds, why would he do it in "the woods" as he called the prairie, and in front of another guy? This show gets more ridiculous by the week.

Sweetie Pie said...

Two grown men alone with a girl talking about sex is beyond inappropriate. It gives off a creepy pervert vib. There is a time and place & that wasn't it.

tulip said...

Josh was so jealous, again. When David explained the difference between a violin & fiddle, of course Josh had to tell the cameras "I knew that", and chalked up his disaster on the unicycle to "you can't win every time." The handstand really showed off his girth, as well as when he was sitting lounged back on the couch. The couples showing off their kissing was gross, as well as the flashback scene to the wedding where Dave kissed Pris in the car-yuck. And why, oh why, must they always show that old picture of Jim Bob dipping Michelle, kissing her, in front of their car. This time it was when Jim Bob referenced the fact thy they've had alot of different vehicles over the years.

And, I definitely agree, two grown men (even if one is her dad) talking about the birds and the bees with Jinger seemed inappropriate and weird. Jinger looked embarrassed & awkward, just like "okay...get me out of here!" I liked Mr. Smitty, and he really sounded just like Gil Bates, with his accent and demeanor.

They never mentioned exactly what town/area they were going to hunt at, but when they showed the sign on the freeway (Butler and Nevada up ahead), they were on hwy 71 North, going from Joplin/Hwy 44 up towards Kansas City. (They just take 71 North right out of Fayetteville, AR). If I had been out at my farm that day, I could have waved to them as they went by. I thought the hunting segment was a little bit interesting and different, but still ruined a bit by Jim Bob's dorkiness. Looked like Joseph and Josiah had a good time and Jinger looked so cute with her braces off and whatever she did different with her hair and makeup. And yeah, Michelle stayed home with the "little ones". I didn't notice Josh or Anna on the hunting trip either. Yeah for that. I was surprised and glad they are friends with their neighbor, although we don't know for sure if he is like-minded or nor. Ditto all the comments about David and Priscilla. There is nothing anyone can add, sadly.

I changed my mind. The Duggars DO, actually, ENCOURAGE me.

Through the Duggars (and all their weirdy fundy friends and kids of friends) we get to see what a truly UGLY and pathetic thing it is to combine a) arrested development/eternal immaturity with b)inherent low intelligence and c) sub par education with d) an industrial strength dose of silly and superficial religiosity added in for that just-right flavor of self righteousness and pomposity.

So, yes, the Duggars ENCOURAGE me to offer my own children every conceivable opportunity to explore, ponder and question every step of the way through life. The Duggars firm up my resolve NOT to teach my children to be pious, unquestioning village idiots.

Seriously? said...

From the sound of it, this epi was like an ackward 6th grade boy/girl mixer, where the boys (sadly in Duggar world the men are eternal boys emotionally) make weird and cringe-worthy attempts to impress and gain wished-for studly assessment by the girls. I was expecting to read here that Patriarch and Mullet invited pervy David and Obedience V2 to play a round of Spin the Bottle, to show the world how much in luuuv they are and how being married is such a sexual party all the time. Ick. These people are beyond weird.

Olympia said...

Poor Jinger looked so embarrassed about Daddy's "birds & bees" talk. But after all these years, I'm sure she's used to being embarrassed by her parents in public.

Michelle stayed home with the little ones. Wonder who was actually taking care of the kids for her.

The David vs. Joshua ego competition was beyond annoying. Yes, you can kiss your wife. No, you don't have to do it constantly in front of the camera. My mom who rarely watches the show walked by the TV and almost didn't recognize Josh. Gaining so much "baby bump" weight so quickly at his age is not a good sign of things to come.

Sounds like I didn't miss anything with this episode either. After the way Joshie acted during the David/Priscilla wedding episode, my husband guessed that Josh may have had a crush on Priscilla but settled for Anna?? I don't think that's the case, but the silly way Josh is acting sure doesn't look right. Then again, it's Josh!!!

Spittake moment here. I don't think David even OWNS a pair of jeans. Don't get me started on the matchy-matchy outfits. Blergh.

Is Josh on some kind of prescription pain killers? Because that's how he seemed to me - dozy, lethargic, yuck.

I don't know who this David guy or his family are, but he gets on my nerves. I watched him at his and Priscilla's wedding rehearsal, slowly giving this detailed shot-by-shot play for how their wedding and their first would go... it was super-creepy because it sounded like total dirty sex talk... about it was about a first kiss and becoming man and wife. So CREEPY!

pumpkin said...

This just reinforced my belief that Josh is a total tool. His "anything you can do, I can do better" attitude towards David was really annoying and childish.

Also, if I had driven 6 hours in a bus filled with little children, I would be realy annoyed that only 4 people could go hunting and I couldn't go hunting after all that effort.

Each time I think about the families I know with lots of kids ... the eldest always has some kind of "issue" as adults - and those were in typical households where the 18 year old got the option of college or moving out of the house.

Josh and Jana ... they probably never had a fighting chance.

I have a hard time understanding why so many Christians seem to focus on the womans appearance and not the man's. If Anna started heading towards obesity and looked nasty and greasy, she would be expected to do something about it. There were several times in the past where Josh talked about the character quality of self control. So why doesn't he apply that to his eating and lack of exercise habits?? I wish TLC would mention it. And maybe a weight journeey could slightly boost ratings.

tulip said...

I think that's why Josh has been so quiet & reserved lately, because he knows what people are saying. He desperately needs to shed weight and get into some shape-the food & restaurant pics are no longer amusing or his way of egging on the critics. He's opened mouth and inserted foot so many times, maybe it's come to his attention he just needs to sit there and nod his head. And the fact that he tries to act like he's working, when he really enjoys posting pics of other people working, has caught up with him. Guess he still couldn't hold back, though, when it came to David looking like he was going to show him up. And of course, he uses Instagram to detract attention when he needs to-like taking a pic of Anna getting her new drivers license picture...why?, and, who cares!

sandi said...

I wonder why David was 'directing' the audience during his wedding.I doubt anyone was paying any attention to him in that respect, and he was too far away to be giving any sort of real 'commands',plus, does a congregation attending a wedding really need directing? If they're off key or not completely in unison, who cares? They're there to honor the couple. Save it for the choir,please.JMO.

It seems to me that the Gothardites place incredibly high standards concerning the women's appearance. Optimal weight is promoted, hair styles, etc. I don't believe all Christians expect women to be 'perfect' in appearance. JMHO.

They don't.For a good example of this, try looking through any mainstream Christian church directory. You will find a variety of looks and hairstyles, body types, styles, etc.People come in all shapes and sizes, with a variety of likes and dislikes as far as that goes,(to include clothing),and all are generally accepted.

Josh and David are examples of what happens to men who grow up infantilized by their parents. They have not yet matured.

I think Josh's weight issues and overeating is a sign that there's something on a deeper level taking place. Perhaps food is a subconscious means to gain control over his own life. Picking and choosing foods and how much he eats is a way to gain back a loss of control. I cannot make fun of him for his weight or how much he eats because I honestly think it's a bigger problem than simply eating too much, and I'm sure that he is aware of his own weight.

As someone said, women in Gothard land must remain pleasing to the eye, so they must be careful, as the girls have already mentioned before about overeating. With Josh, he gains weight and the family looks the other way. If Jana gains too much, they send her to weight watchers. It's a sad double standard.

David Waller acts as if he has been well controlled, and well trained.

What about the folks who were stuck in the drive-thru while that HUGE order of food was prepared for the Duggar clan and their guests? Must have been a great opportunity to practise patience.

There was probably no line at all. No doubt the entrance was blocked off for filming and it was done at the least busy time of the day. The man "buying" the food owns the restaurant. He was no mere customer randomly going through the drive-thru. The entire situation was created for filming. He didn't sit there while food was prepared after making his "order." All was known well in advance and the food was prepared at his direction when it was time not after the "order" scene was shot.

I actually feel bad for David Waller, for being raised so stiff and rigidly. It's all he knows, and I hope he loosens up a bit now that he's on his own.I doubt it though. He will always have his family and Gothardland around to insure he sticks with the program.
At the least I hope he buys a pair of jeans or some reaal swimwear..This is someone who thinks he looks really cool waterskiing in a suit! LOL ;)

If women truly have freedom of choice, then they should be allowed to have a part-time job that interests them. The Duggar girls have a sweet setup. They can live at home, rent free, they aren't under any pressure to get a serious career nor are they being pressured to get married and move out.

Elspeth said...

That's a really sweet setup for the Duggar women. They aren't allowed to get an education. They aren't allowed to be out on their own. They aren't allowed to associate outside the people that their parents select. They aren't allowed to make friends or even to decide when and who they will marry. They are so protected that the only life that they have is parent directed. Yep, that's a really sweet setup. In short, they are being cheated out of self-determination.

Alberta Rose said...

He said they go to the same church. They've mentioned in the past they have a community church. I suspect Mrs. Neighbour probably is like me and enjoys shedding her jeans for a skirt when she goes to a church service.

They do have friends because they've mentioned them, including the Bates and Vanderhofs. Also, the cameras are not on them 24/7 nor does everyone associated with the Duggars sign the permission slip for something to be filmed. Home schooling is a valid form of education and many mainstream big name universities accept CollegePlus. The daughters recently did an episode when they said they aren't in a hurry to get married and Jim Bob said he gives his daughters final choice. I think it was the Priscilla and David wedding episode. As for not being allowed to be friends with people unselected by their parents, that happens with lots of kids. We have people who when they find out how right wing, religious and pro-America my son's upbringing is, don't want their kids associating with him.

Elspeth said...

Those "friends" you list are fellow Gothardites and live hundreds of miles away. Their homeschooling is a joke though and so is CollegePlus. No big name school accepts CollegePlus. It's merely a scam to provide a list of books to study for things like CLEP exams that "big name" schools either don't accept or give minimal credit for. It is NOT a way to get a degree. The daughters aren't in a hurry to get married because that is what daddy has told them. JimBob says he gives the daughters final choice, but that's about the same choice as being Gothardized and sharing one bedroom or which jurisdiction they are going to handle. What you do has nothing to do with the Duggars. Children can not learn to stand on their own or think for themselves if they are kept away from differing opinions. They will eventually be out on their own if they have any kind of backbone at all. Gothard says his way keeps kids from rebellion but it only works in a limited way. Josh is eating himself to death as a form of rebellion. The Kellers have basically lost two of their kids because of their oppressive upbringing. Gothard trades on fear and that is no way to live.

-----------------------------------

That doesn't sound mentally healthy;an adult should be challeged to be more, and to be out on their own and find out what they can do.I thought Jim Bob's comment about 'no overhead' and saving money was very telling...keeping his kids at home is NOT about money, and he knows it.It's a way to keep them under his watchful eye and his control.JMO.

That translates to me as wanting one's adult children to become perma-children with no encouragement to actually be the adults that they are.

Beth Anne said...

Re:
"If women truly have freedom of choice, then they should be allowed to have a part-time job that interests them."

The problem is that, per the ATI/Gothard rules JimBob and Michelle have decided the family must live by, the adult daughters are NOT ALLOWED to have a FULL-TIME JOB that interests them as long as they live under their parent's roof. Nor are they allowed to "leave home" unless they get married. So, they are stuck in this in-between stage where they are done with their 'formal' schooling, but unmarried, so, for instance, Jinger can't leave home to go to the city to try to build a full-time photography career. That's not full freedom of choice....

sandi said...

If I'm not mistaken,I don't think any of the Duggar girls would even be allowed to work at a yogurt shop like Michelle did,not even part-time.

Luci said...

I for one was suprised that Jinger was actually allowed to wear pants and boots on this hunting trip and not the denim skirt and old navy flip flops that is usually the uniform when the Duggar girls are doing anything (such as cleaning fiberglass up in the rental property... I mean come on Jim Bob havent you heard that stuff makes you itchy, take precautions to keep those kids safe). I have to look away when Pris and David kiss it reminds me of fish that have been out of water too long and is just downright creepy. If he spoke to me the way he does Pris, I would have to punch him and tell him I am not two I can understand perfectly what you are telling me dont talk down to me.
